Despite all this, Ito was unlike her family members. While her family sketched delicate animals and brought watercolour landscapes to life, Ito drew twisted chimeras and painted scenes of tragedy. When questioned, Ito would simply say she was doing as they said: painting a reflection of the world.
No matter how it transpired, Ito’s descent from curious child to disconcertingly dark-minded kuniochi was not something her family was able to shake her out of. Despite Ito’s “strangeness”, the Murakamis simply saw her as an artist exploring her own style. However, at age twenty, Ito left behind her family, village, a the corpse of her youngest sister. The scene held heavy implications of Ito’s Living Art jutsu having been used to do the deed, leaving the Murakamis with no other possible explanation for what occurred that night.
Not long after the murder of her sister, Ito joined the Akatsuki; having been in touch with Masaji Dokujima prior to the incident. A Thousand Cuts [Bukijutsu | Apprentice] Ito is not fond of close quarters fighting but recognizes its inevitability, thus she chose to focus on Bukijutsu. Ito likes to fight on the safer side and practices a style of swordplay that involves evasiveness, parrying, and counterattacks over head-on strikes.
Not the Hands [Taijutsu | Apprentice] Balking at the idea of smashing her artists' hands into another, Ito resisted learning taijutsu for a long time as a young kunoichi. While her distaste of it remains to this day, she has rightly learned that taijutsu is a ninja's last line of defense. To suit the art to herself, Ito has learned a style of taijutsu that involves using her hands as little as possible. Like her bukijutsu, it places an emphasis on countering with a unique focus on kicks, kneeing, and elbowing over punches.

While Enki Yamamoto was her taijutsu teacher in another life, Ito has applied his lessons to her kenjutsu style. In an effort to confuse her opponents, her movements bear little rhythm all the while Ito searches for surgical counter strikes.

Proficiencies
Living Art: True World [Non-Elemental Ninjutsu | Journeyman] Ito’s Living Art jutsu is an extension of her lifelong passion for art. As per the nature of the jutsu, Living Art requires the usage of a medium and a muse. For Ito, this means a paintbrush, ink or paint, and something to paint on (most often, paper) with her muse being she calls the "True World". Each creation brought to life has their own specialized (but linear) task, examples being "Bloodhound" only tracking by scent or "Sparrow" only being a messenger. Ito’s main ninjutsu focus is on defense first with her offensive and utility coming equally secondary to that. In combat, Ito prioritizes her safety through evasive jutsu and techniques that help her maintain distance. Offensively, Ito uses Living Art to chip away and wear down her opponents over time with only a one or two heavier hitting jutsus being known to her. The utility side of Ito’s Living Art is focused on binds and distraction with a few long form communication techniques at her disposal just in case.
Lighter Load [Fuinjutsu | Apprentice] Fuinjutsu is a newer curiosity for Ito. Most of her experience lies in the reasons she picked it up to begin with: as a way to carry her art supplies easily and without damaging any of it. While Ito still aims to improve her object sealing for peak travelling efficiency, she has also started to branch out. Ito is able to seal minor Living Art jutsu into scrolls, such as jutsu used for communication. In the future, she hopes to explore the further applications of fuinjutsu, and is quite curious as to whether she could seal living things...
Tree in a Forest [Stealth | Apprentice] Ito’s stealth preferences lie in finding a good hiding spot and staying put over silent movement. With her Living Art jutsu being what it is, periods of little movement and no detection are a benefit to her craft as she simply paints and observes the results.
