a faint growl came from an orange-coated ninken, its amber eyes settled on the three approaching figures. peeking one ruby eye open, the inuzuka glances towards the gathering genin as his lips curl upwards into a smile. a small fang peeked out from under it as he shifted from his spot against the gate to begin making his way towards the genin. the orange-coated ninken follows next to the inuzuka while a white, fluffy ninken merely lets out a weary snort through its nose as it remains laying on the ground.[break][break]
❝ pups! ❞ kegawa calls out in greeting, fanged teeth displaying themselves in his grin. the jonin was dressed in your typical jonin shinobi attire. his headband hung loosely around his neck, glinting in the morning light. attached to his back were two large scrolls, the outside paper in a yellow colour. the inuzuka clapped his hands together, seeming excited about this venture.[break][break]
❝ as you know we'll be under going a c-rank mission today. the goal? ❞ he pauses, his lips spread into a malicious grin as his eyes narrow. he raises a pointer finger up before his face as he continues speaking. ❝ suppressing wild animals near the village of otame. apparently, they've been having a few run-ins with some ferocious animals that have been terrorizing the villagers. we need to take care of it before a villager loses their life. ❞[break][break]
he lets out a bark of a laugh as he crosses his arms over his chest, looking to the three genin with mild interest.[break][break]
❝ we'll start heading out soon, but i am curious to know what you pups would do if given this mission to lead. after all, i hope you pups are looking to work to becoming chunins one day. ❞[break][break]
Izumi breathed out a sigh as she walked out of her family compounds and headed straight for the village gates. Her hair was still somewhat wet from having freshly taken a shower after a long night of geisha work. She had been looking forward to getting some shut-eye when she remembered that she had taken on a mission a couple of days ago, or rather signed up for one while she was passing by the administration office. Why she had decided to take on a mission at this time was beyond her, since she was more than swamped with her duties as a geisha, a samurai and training as a shinobi. But there were the Chuunin exams...the girl thought to herself. The Chuunin exams were not hosted regularly and was the fastest way for any genin to climb to the next step of the shinobi ladder. [break][break]
Did she desire the fame? Not quite. [break][break]
She merely wanted to show those above her that she was a capable individual, more capable than most. Although not at all boastful, the young woman prided on her identity as a samurai, and believed that all samurai could be a shinobi and a samurai at the same time, with equal success on both fronts. And for the most part, shinobi and samurai skills worked hand-in-hand, the kenjutsu that most warriors practiced usually aided their taijutsu when in combat. If they didn't equal one another, they at least complimented each other well. Izumi was out to prove herself, that she too could be strong and help those in need. The best way to accomplish that was by going on missions. This was going to be her first group mission, and from what was mentioned to her when she signed up for it, she would be led by a Jounin and that there were possibly one or two other people tagging along. She wondered where they were going and what the mission was, knowing practically nothing except for the meeting place that was pre-determined. [break][break]
They were to meet by the village gates, the most normal and perfect meeting place for shinobi. A black silk kimono held together by a dark red silk sash as her attire, she kept her katana sheathed tightly under her sash. She had decided against wearing her signature straw hat, instead allowing her jet black hair to flow with the wind. Her weapon pouch was strapped to her right leg, under the kimono, and her headband was tucked carefully inside her red sash. To any outsider, she was merely a girl with a sword, nothing about her attire really indicated that she was a shinobi. She made her way towards the gate, her brown hues scanning the area. There were two people standing there already, somewhat awkwardly, when she approached. For a moment, she wouldn't speak, merely standing a short distance from the other two. Izumi continued to stand in silence until she heard a voice, speaking to them. Her eyes drifted toward the origin of the voice, resting on a man that looked...interesting, which was the most fitting word she could use to describe the ninken. [break][break]
The girl had never interacted with an Inuzuka, although she knew of their clan vaguely. From her knowledge, the clan seemed to use canines to fight, fighting alongside their dogs in battle. A dog was a man's best friend, after all, and the Inuzuka took this statement to a new length. But she had not expected to see a person with pointy ears and fangs for teeth, completely mesmerized by the man's appearance that she couldn't help but stare. The man talked about the mission details, implying that he was the Jounin she had been assigned to. They were going to the village of Otame which was foreign to her. She had never been there, but the idea of saving villagers from wild animals was definitely what she had signed up for. "Niijima Izumi. Do we know how many and what kind of wild animals we are dealing with?" The girl would say softly, bowing towards Kegawa. It was a common show of respect to bow to your superiors, manners that she would never forget as an onnabusha. [break][break]
Enma was looking forward to his first mission as a genin, especially after all the gossip from the older ninja in the village about what their first missions were like. Some had had escort missions, high profile delivery missions, and one old man even spoke of a suppression mission that his squad and another had been sent on. All that had done was make the young cloud ninja more and more excited for what was to come no matter what it would be, so when he had seen the C rank mission that was available under the guidance of THE “Fox” Inuzuka. When he had nearly arrived at the rendezvous point near the gate, he hadn’t expected to come across any friendly faces, but in front of him and the first to meet with the Inuzuka had been Izumi herself, the onnabusha he had helped learn shogi. Though she seemed much more awkward than before, ah well.
[break][break]
The group's attention seemed to be snatched the moment that the Inuzuka had spoken, an odd callout referring to them as… puppies? Were all Inuzuka like that, or maybe it was just him. Whatever it was, Enma approached and bowed toward the Jonin. Before he could say anything their leader had continued, explaining that their mission was to subdue ferocious wild animals that had been causing havoc in a village nearby. That was… interesting to say the least, a good opportunity to practice his ninjutsu maybe? Izumi was the first of the group to speak, and he simply followed up. “My name is Kuchiki Enma, and do we know how far the village is and what specifically they’ve been doing? Working with the village to assess the next steps and prevent future problems is something we might need to do.”
[attr="class","zacwords"]Despite having accepted most terms under his forced conscription back into Kumo military, there were still civilian sides of him that wished for simple side of life, wanting to abscond at once at the sheer mention of responsibility. While on the heals of an all-out invasion of Oto – it was friendly, and at Oto’s request – he had to rack up a few missions. It turned out this was one of them, and it was a crowded one. I am not in the mood… The self-loathing and disdain was strong with this one, and he carried it with him all the way to their meeting point, one of the gates entering and or exiting the village. It appeared either they were extremely early, or he had been late. [break][break]

Three different entities, all with three different agendas. Three different approaches. Three different pains in the ass…? And while Chinetsu wasn’t sure of that question yet, he also knew his ornary, old self – by default – owed everyone the benefit of the doubt. After all, the shit he had pulled up until his capture and “repatriation” was heinous. Simply put, he had no room to judge. And as such, as he arrived to the gates to greet his squad, taking a moment to observe each one and collect his own judgement, he would not to his team captain, a man the dossier named as “Kegawa”. Like any other, Chinetsu would join ranks, ivory robes and raven locks in tow.[break][break]
but i am curious to know what you pups would do if given this mission to lead.
It seemed like a redundant question, but Chinetsu did not want to appear to be rude. It was best to get through this as amicably, after all.[break][break]
“...complete the task by removing the exigent threat, as soon as possible.” [break][break]
here we gooo. the next couple posts will just be kind of getting things set up and then the real fun will start!

ruby eyes gaze at the three 'pups'. he was going to ignore the fact he called an older man a pup, but it really came down to shinobi experience than anything else. chinetsu could just think of it as a compliment, how young he seemed!![break][break]
he glances to izumi, smiling as he gives a definite ❝ nope and nope! ❞[break][break]
he looks to enma next, answering with confidence. ❝ it's a couple hours jog down the mountain. at the current moment, the most we know is that the villagers have attempted to deal with these 'wild animals' by setting up guards with what they have on hand and keeping watch. the predators come at night, circling around the village, and have attempted to snatch one of the children. so far no one's gotten hurt, but the reports on what they are haven't been quite confirmed. brown fur, terrifying glowing eyes, and large fangs. that's about it. ❞[break][break]
he pauses, glancing towards the three as he surveys them. he was curious how they would handle the information given to them and whether they'd be able to piece some things on their own or not. eventually, he glanced over to chinetsu, letting out a small laugh that he stifles with his hand.[break][break]
❝ then for your sake, let's hope it is simple! haha! ❞ he exclaims, ruby eyes twinkling with amusement. he uncrosses his arms as he pivots on his heel to start making his way towards the gate, giving the guards a wave and a fanged grin in their direction. kegawa doesn't wait around to see if the three would follow, continuing on as if they did at a leisurely pace.[break][break]
❝ the rural village is a small one that focuses on agriculture. they produce a small portion of the rice that our village use, which is why it's important that we resolve the matter as quickly as possible. losing any of the villagers will cut into those who can work on the fields and then that affects our food supply. omate is based down at the mountain, so lets head off before the sun sets. that way we can be prepared for when nightfall hits. ❞ he glances over his shoulder, beckoning with his hand as he picks up his pace at a steady run towards their destination.[break][break]
