the hyuga girl afforded no time to even think of congratulating herself over the defeat of the shadow clone rhino. she had just done what she needed to do and the safety of her sister was all she needed. the steady grip of her sister and the offered hand of daichi helped the girl to get out of the hole and onto her feet again. the pain in her leg remained constant, but she wouldn’t let it stop her. her gaze shifted over towards mai, she gives a very stiff bow in thanks.[break][break]
❝ thank you miss aburame. ❞ hoshi voices in conjunction with koma’s own thanks. her fingers still contained the bits of chakra at their tips, making her feel fidgety. her blood was still pumping and she felt like she wanted to do more. her gaze moved towards anotsu sensei, seeing the rhino still at his feet. lavender brows pinched together with concern, could they...help him?[break][break]
it seemed koma had the same idea, and as he sprinted off hoshi came hobbling after the fastest she could. she barely caught exactly what daichi had said to her sister, but as long as there were threats in the area, they all wouldn’t be safe. anotsu could handle the rhino, sure, but she wanted to prove that she was more than capable of offering help in return. she wasn’t some useless genin. she was a hyuga and she’d prove it.[break][break]
as she sprinted/skipped due to her injured leg, her byakugan was trained at the center of the rhino’s chakra point. one blow, one hit. she’d give it her all to defeat it. her two fingers were poised at the ready, chakra building at the fingertips. as she came closer to the rhino, as koma had wrapped his chain around its neck and pulled the head back to pry its mouth open, hoshi took the opportunity to slide onto her knees. the momentum carried her as her small frame slid under the belly of the beast, the chakra still building more and more at her fingertips. as she passed just at the right moment, she thrust her fingers into the belly of the rhino to hit its main chakra point situated in its stomach. injecting her own chakra to disturb and damage it as much as she could.[break][break]
she came sliding out from the other side, using her hands to try to slow herself down and wobble to her feet. hoping to see if she helped at all.[break][break]
There was a brief moment of awe as he watched the rhino crumple under their assault before immediately vanishing. They did it. They had the help of a jonin, yeah, but still. His plan actually worked! He felt a bit of pride welling up in his chest as he took a moment to survey the scene, his steps subconsciously leading him to the pit where the Hyuga sisters had delivered their killing blows. Once he reached it he would look down at them, the sight quickly pulling himself from his own thoughts. ”That was amazing you two! Great work.”[break][break]
As he spoke he would reach down with his uninjured hand, offering it to the injured Hoshiko to help Aiko in assisting the younger Hyuga up out of the hole. It was about then that he heard Koma call his name, eyes widening slightly as the usually distant genin actually used his first name without being told. Was this…progress? His smile grew for a moment, only to immediately vanish as it seemed he was jumping right back into the action. There wasn’t time to ask questions at this point. And just as they trusted him with his vague direction, he was going to trust them.[break][break]
A hand reached into his bag to pull out some of his explosive tags, his eyes immediately darting toward Aiko. ”Arrow.” He quickly snatched up the arrow the moment it was offered, using his bad hand to hold it steady while the other affixed numerous tags to the lone projectile. The weapon was then handed back to the chunin, giving her ample time to fire the arrow as an opening was made. ”Go for it.”
At first, the rhino felt very real, but when it disappeared in a puff of nothing, Aiko worried if her eyes had been playing tricks on her, again. As she caught her breath, following Daichi’s help to get her and Hoshiko out of the hole, she pondered the complexity of the clones in the brief pause from combat she afforded herself. To trick the Byakugan, there was a lot of work that must have gone into those clones, a thought that nearly distracted her from the others around her. As bugs drifted from them, Aiko turned her gaze towards the jonin who had come to assist them. She gave her elder a brief nod of acknowledgment. However, this respite didn’t last long. [break][break]
There were still threats lingering, and now attention shifted to the last problematic beast staring down their sensei, Anotsu. [break][break]
It was Koma’s turn to take charge, and as he took off, much to Aiko’s disdain, so did Hoshiko. Her eyes followed her sister, as her teeth caught her tongue to keep her from shouting after her. There was no time, it was during the movement that Aiko had answered Daichi’s call for her attention. Arrow. The message was clear and she promptly slid one out and over to him to do with as he pleased. When it was returned to her, it was basically a grenade of destruction, waiting to go off at any second. [break][break]
She wasted no time loading it back into her crossbow, though. Her eyes trained on the rhino as her sister and Koma would put distance between the beast and themselves. Koma in the sky, Hoshiko emerging from the other side, it was the moment she fired off the hazardous arrow - aiming right for the creature’s mouth if it was forced open. Even if it wasn’t open, she was firing at it regardless. [break][break]
No way in hell was she keeping that many explosion tags on her arm, are you crazy?
[break][break]
TLDR: Gave an arrow to Daichi for him to wrap it up in a bunch of explosive tags. After Koma and Hoshiko attack / distract the rhino attacking Anotsu, Aiko fires off the bomb arrow from Daichi at the rhino's open mouth / head / neck, aiming to explode it the moment it hits.

....For the first time, Anotsu had been the one protected.
How tangible it seemed to feel the ebb and flow of seconds slow to a crawl. The sound of battle, a war of man against beast, continued to resound with the cries of aggression and determination. There had been no command given to his Genin, his Chuunin. The Jounin hadn't even seen them arrive. Heels dug hard into earth as he skid to a halt, terra at his back and halting the momentum of his form. It had been Anotsu's intention to rejoin his Platoon once his target no longer lived. Ivory daggers grit, jawline clenched. But to his surprise, an emotion that seldom crossed the spectrum of his character, the sprouts that he had taken under his wing were now resolved to stay by his side in battle. They were glorious to behold. Koma, Daichi, Hoshiko, Aiko, and Mai moved with grace, with tenacity, with unity. Fleeting moments of concern were now a pride coalesced with accomplishment. From deep within, a second wind began to rush to the surface, parallel to his fatigue and eviscerating it until naught but new energy coursed his veins.
It was Anotsu's father that had spoken to him of the Uchiha Clan's history, its heritage, its greatest discoveries. "There will come a day when that which matters most will unlock the secrets hidden behind your gaze, boy. When that day comes....give in to the call. Give in to the nature of your blood." Almost audibly, Anotsu could hear his own breathing. Seconds trickled like molasses, thick and sweet as the Jounin's form swelled with emotion. Anotsu's eyebrows furrowed as his hands reached back to grip the loosened earth at his flank. Fingers dug in, digits curling as eyes shut to the extent of all senses diverting themselves to lend him aid in the foreign strength now manifesting.
Daichi.
Koma.
Aiko.
Hoshiko.
Mai.
There, deep within the folds of his existence, the power of the Uchiha Clan erupted until eyes snapped open with maw agape. Scarlet pools surveyed the world before him, the Jounin a newborn to the Sharingan as a single tomoe rest within the circumference of its red hue.
——————— S H A R I N G A N ———————
I was no longer bound by the vision of the mundane.
All that lay before me was now victim to the Sharingan, its deliverance testimony to the words that my father had spoken. The inexorable truth to the blood that now pumped adrenaline through my veins was finally realized. And in my awakening, the path forward was clear: Act. Immediately, I retrieved a kunai from my satchel without the need to search for the pouch's opening. I had executed this maneuver countless times, practiced the accuracy of my movements until expert precision was an afterthought. Forward I threw the projectile, its length spinning furiously and in tandem with the arrow that sought the hopefully gaping maw of our adversary. There was a stark contrast to my ministrations now. My vision possessed greater clarity, greater detail. Its grandeur was inexplicable, the required concentration used to act now second nature in conjuncture with the Sharingan. The instrument thrown from my digits would, hopefully, slice through external resistance and embed itself deep into my aggressor's flesh. I need not attempt to fell the beast a second time. Should I have hit my mark, the distance laughable in contrast to my Shurikenjutsu's prowess, it would force the beast's maw open to ensure that the arrow fired would make contact with tongue and more.
I sought the edge of the crater above, kinetic energy delivering me from the sundered earth beneath me. No sooner than when my feet touched terra did I seek out the remaining of my Platoon's opposition. Cognizant of our collective condition, I needed to bide my time. The throes of battle were secondary to the rush of adrenaline that cascaded every muscle, every bone. Still, I would seek a momentary respite whilst taking the time to fashion two more kunai with exploding tags. Swiftly, meticulously, I arranged them with access at the forefront of my machination. "Great job. All of you," I spoke calmly through the radio. My voice crackled and buzzed through their ears, my next set of instructions quite clear and without contestation.
"Take a moment and gather yourselves. Survey the battlefield. We're still in enemy territory."
Proper preparation would prevent poor performance.
[attr="class","arubody"] Higa was not so naive as to simply hook onto the beast without a plan. His puppet was precious to him after all.
As soon as the chain began to wrap around the rampaging rhinoceros, Higa's fingers began their furious movements, releasing his hold on both legs of his puppet and combining the length of his strings. Sacrificing his control for distance. The slack would allow the rhino to rampage while Higa kept control of the key areas he needed: arms and head.
Even with this tactic, he kept lengthening the strings, he was starting to feel the strain from his chakra now expelling it in a quick but controlled panic. There was another whirr coming from the puppet, the chain pulling the puppet back in. This way with the rhino chained there was no chance of a direct escape.
Kishi would slam into the rhino's back from the force of the chains pull, although that was just a bonus, its arms wrapping around it in a mock hug, which would stop the rhino from bucking it off. Placing the puppet's head on top of the rhino's skull.
Kishi's jaw parted, the built-in steel needle blade shot out from its mouth down into the skull of the rhino. The weapon itself designed for this exact scenario, contain and kill.
If worst came to worst he would cut the strings if his plan seemed hopeless.
The smoke churned and shift, pouring from around the rhinoceros' horn as it carved through the blind to stamp its feet into the clear of the open air.[break][break]
The thin pupils of the woman's stare constrict further, jaws part feral and eager, and in the very breath that the beast was in her line of sight, she was launching for it - and her ninken with her. Earth carved under claw and finger, the woman shot herself off at full speed - the hound positioned across from her bolting to offer his assistance in a joint attack.[break][break]
❝ You are NOT leaving us out of this! ❞
[break]
Lips curled in a snarl, eyes wild and silvery mane lashed by the gale of her blistering pace, the chunin's call sound out in a vicious roar of her own, stare made with bloodthirst. She and her hound were coming in hot to converge on the beast, their advance staggered in only the mildest sense as they wove their trajectory to avoid any surprise pillars that might rise to greet them.[break][break]
It was just before they'd be near enough to land their blows that the pair shift. In the midst of her sprint, Nikukyuu curl her fingers - a pair of digits lift heavensward as her gaze held steeled toward those of the monster so near to her reach. Her chakra rushed through her form to coalesce at her fingertips, and as her claws met the earth once more - the ground beneath the rhinoceros would set to turn. Her goal was use her chakra to twist the earth supporting the monster's weight, and in the process, force it to face a direction more accommodating for her attack.[break][break]
The smack of her palm to the earth resound softly, its clap seeing a circle of dust to disperse from its force. She was launching herself into the air, twisting as swift and sharp as a snake to try and weave her leap between the rhinoceros' horn and the sensitive meat of its eyes. Hound turned his head subtle for the handle of the tanto sheathed at his shoulder, and as his fangs root firm to its grip, and as Kyuu struck out her claws and carve out one of the monster's eyes, the grey-furred Ginmaru drew his blade to slice its way through the rhinoceros' throat as he dart across, leaping to prevent getting his paws trapped under its heel.[break][break]
With the twist of soil below, the angle of his sweep would hopefully be enough to avoid getting caught underfoot.[break][break]
❝ FALL! ❞

The crowing Stone and synchronized flock of Rain shinobi hadn't earned so much as a shred of the woman's attention. Her eyes were toward her the beast before her, claws hungry for its blood.
[attr="class","pwfbody"]kegawa paid not much attention towards the one-armed woman who came to him, a warning growl coming from kakimaru but both kept their attentive watch towards the cloud of smoke. the inuzuka offers a grunt, his lips still twisted in that grin while ruby hues focused with intensity. he didn't seem to recognize the woman, despite her claim of it having been a while. not that he was paying enough attention to dissect the mystery. he unrolled one of his scrolls as he positioned the gourd on top, clawed fingers settle along the ground. eyes still trained onto the smoke, watching as others floundered within it.[break][break]
another 'familiar' figure came, inquiring of kegawa on the location of one of his genin. kakimaru lets out a growl, amber eyes trained onto the smoke still. a hiss came from kegawa's teeth, and that's all there was so say on the matter. the inuzuka's neck strained, jaws clenching tightly with lips curled back into a grinning snarl. the words of the 'flea' was lost to the wind, without care or want for them. as soon as the woman finished wrapping up the cut, the blood dripping to the ground ceasing, the inuzuka saw as the rhino came bucking out of the smoke. the cries of his sister resonated in the wind. [break][break]
the temptation was there, the want was there. kegawa wanted the rhino to suffer, but he knew he couldn't do it. not yet. so he'd have to do with what he could do.[break][break]
his sandal pushed against the ground, clawed fingers digging into the ground as he shot off towards the rhino his ninken moving the instance he noticed his partner's movement. sweeping his claws along the dirt, he twisted his form into a spiral as did his ninken companion. he came in hot, just as kiyuu twisted the rhino in place. kegawa and kakimaru's form twisted around each other and just as it seemed they would hit directly for the rhino's side, they divided apart. kakimaru sweeping under towards the belly of the beast and kegawa sweeping over to hit for the spine of the beast. working to pincer the rhino into a beautiful holy sandwich. [break][break] tldr: fang passing fangs with kakimaru at the rhino. going straight for rhino together before sepearting. kegawa going for the rhino's spine and kakimaru going for the belly of the beast.
A quick glance was shot toward the beefy bear of a man as he approached, a soft snort escaping her as she shook her head. Seemed that dog boy didn't really feel like talking. Though from the brief bit of insight gained here, it seemed safe to say that smear on the ground used to be one of theirs. Damn shame, really. Though a kid like that shouldn't have been here in the first place, so she couldn't feel too bad for them. At least she died on her own instead of making a foolish mistake that would drag others down with her. And so she simply shrugged the interaction off as she finished tying the bandage to help stop the bleeding. It seemed like she had enough success that she didn't have to worry about the guy keeling over.[break][break]
Just in time for the rhino to come bursting from the smoke and for every shinobi in the area to immediately launch themselves at the beast. And she was no different. Her clone took a bit of a tumble from getting knocked off, but was fortunately spared from any significant impact, managing to catch itself as it was forced off and maintain it's shape. At this point, both the real deal and the clone charged forward along with the rest of the assault, each with their blades drawn and their eye focused on separate targets. Though their two pronged assault was quickly shifted as one of the chunnin attempted to shift its trajectory. Which, if everything worked out, would be to her benefit.[break][break]
The water clone would charge forward, letting out a hearty shout as she positioned herself to meet the rhino's charge head on. The blade was poised and ready to slip past the beast's horn and drive a blade straight between its eyes. While the decoy got in the creature's face, the woman herself would slip to one side, aiming to combine their opposing momentum into a single powerful strike to one of it's front legs. There were few things as satisfying as hitting a bit target with the old impromptu high low combo.

The children were restless and would not spare a moment before switching targets once the first one was down. Their level of involvement was outstanding for mere Genin led by a Chunin and their coordination as allied shinobi a rare sight to behold. The Aburame was the one being thanked, but ultimately, they had been the ones to do most of the work for her. They had grown. And so had their leader. The proof of that progress laid before her eyes, it invigorated her soul and pushed her towards doing her best as well.
"Okay, time to get this nasty illusion out of the way."
She confessed, revealing that she had been trapped in it the whole time. With the beast weakened and the Genjutsu having large area coverage, it would now be much easier to break free from, a moderate amount of pain enough to drive the visions away. With this in mind, the Jounin would simply bit her lip. She didn't do so gently, no, instead she carried out the task in one sudden and violent motion, blood beginning to pour from the wound after that. Most likely, if left untreated, she'd have to deal with a swollen lower lip in a few hours. For a medic, however, such self-inflicted injury was of no concern.
Assuming the Rhino Anotsu had been dealing with was put down for good, she would use the brief moment of respite for two purposes: First and foremost, she would once more seek to enhance the number of bugs at her disposal. This could be done easily and without needing much more than an order, but Mai would surrender some Chakra to accelerate the process considerably. She had not used as much as she expected during the previous encounter, and she had freed herself from the Genjutsu the old-fashioned way, so now she had a reasonable amount of energy to spare. All her strong moves relied on her Kikaichu, so this was a way to enhance their influence and widening their net without having to move at all.
The second one was to assess the battlefield, determine the position of the enemy and other participants, as well as the current condition of the team. It was just as Anotsu had just said: They were still in enemy territory.
Proper preparation before action was mandatory.
Ame team.

A split in decision, the markedly two opposite camps of actors being for offense and observation. Among their efforts were two barrages of attacks, neither possessing exceptional fluidity, but a fair bit of teamwork.
The previously dazed and confused rhino was descended upon by bats out of hell, tenketsu struck with fierce blows as weapons rained down - a pillow of smoke rippling as it popped out of existence, to somewhere far, far away. One rhinoceros remained.
The heave of grey flesh cracked the earth beneath it, visible steam rippling from flared nostrils. A dashing water clone, multiple spinning inuzuka colliding forward, the loose wrappings of a puppet not unlike a poorly fitted robe - all having one thing on common.
A roar of laughter was their only result. Beady eyes had now opened into a fiery glare, the muzzle of the beast twisting into a gnarled smile. Chakra rippled through flesh, bone, and dirt with each step, the continued barrage doing nothing to slow the beast down as it paraded towards the remaining shinobi.
With the puppets spike would attempt to drive in, the metal shattered as the beasts hide visibly cracked, the force of multiple spinning bodies widening it further, until with a thundercrack, a smaller rhino rocketed out from the earthen shell it had inhabited, notably less battle worn and 'youthful', or whatever the rhino equivalent may be. The shell of earth would collapse into a almost literal dogpile, the pile of men, woman, and pet dazed, but not harmed. With a stomp, and nearly a braying, the beast circled in place, beginning to speak through small windows of joyous laughter.
"You can put my kids in their place! That's good!" a snort, hoof cracking the ground beneath him. "Entertainment like this gets my heart beating!! Some of you might even be worthy!" Another laugh, this one dark, heavy. "IF YOU CAN SURVIVE!"
The earth shook.
By infusing a shell of earth with a genjutsu trigger, the Rhinoceros was free to mold chakra from the very beginning. Til now.
Chakra radiated out in a single burst, the shaking tremors causing rocks to fling themselves aggressively at anyone nearby - surface level wounds, but enough would put anyone left standing out of commission easily. Another roar of mocking laughter continued, its voice ringing with the sound of crumbling stone. "PROVE YOU'VE GOT GUTS!"
Deep in the forest a call was sounding... he felt compelled to turn his back upon the fire and the beaten earth around it.
Korogaru watched from the wall, her wild grey eyes going wide as a sudden burst of chakra sent rocks flying in every direction. She leapt down behind the earthen barrier for cover and signaled her bear to follow her around the side towards where her siblings and sensei had ended up.
She caught her sister’s eye and a plan was silently communicated between the two women who’d hunted together as children. I’ll go high, you go low.
The rhino hadn’t gotten far as he now trotted about in a circular pattern. His words were a challenge; Prove yourself worthy.
Her lips pulled back into an amused snarl as she sprinted forward in a sort of zigzag formation, dropping onto all fours on the approach, as she and Nomi weaved around each other in a rehearsed display of unpredictability. Korogaru approached the rhino with the expectation that she may take some damage if the rhino released another volley of attacks but she was willing to charge through it. Both girl and bear would attempt to slam into the Rhino’s shoulder, hoping to knock it off balance enough that the others could get in a few blows towards it’s underbelly.

Holy crap. They actually did it. The Rain had taken down two rhinos all on their own, and he could confidently and truthfully say he played a part in both of them! Granted, neither of them seemed to be nearly as strong as the ones the other shinobi were engaged with. But still, this was no small feat. Something that the big boss seemed to agree with according to his bellowing. Though he wasn't quite sure how he felt about hearing them be referred to as his children. After the first one went poof he assumed they were just clones. But it seemed that instead these were his own children that he had summoned, a fact that didn't set too well in his stomach. Daichi never liked hurting animals, even when they struck first. Usually they were just scared or hungry, acting on survival instinct rather than malicious intent. But...these ones were really dangerous. And the leader made it pretty clear that he was hungry for battle, so maybe they were the same?[break][break]
Whatever the case, there was no time for him to get caught up in his thoughts. He instead focused on his sensei's words, quickly turning to survey the battlefield. He and the rest of the group were rather far off from the main melee at this point as they focused on eliminating the weaker rhinos. As he looked around he saw that while most of the shinobi were caught up in the main fight, one was sitting off to the side. His brows furrowed a bit, eyes narrowing into a squint behind his goggles as he tried to make out the details of the figure. Why were they just...sitting there? Were they overseeing the battle? Or perhaps preparing a giant jutsu to seal the beast's fate?[break][break]
Once again, his thoughts were interrupted by what happened next. The genin's eyes went wide with shock as the creature leapt from its shell and unleashed a massive wave of chakra, unleashing a torrent of debris that could prove dangerous to the people surrounding it. His considerable distance from the epicenter of the quake saved him from the brunt of the damage. And so the shinobi planted his feet and grit his teeth, choosing to instead focus on helping to bring the rhino down. A hand reached into his toolbag, which was now unfortunately devoid of any more explosive tags. Probably should've held on to one instead of putting ALL of them on Aiko's arrow. So instead he did the only thing he could. Daichi brought his hands together, wincing at the pain from forcing his injured hand to move and form the hand seals needed one last time. When they were completed, pillar of earth would forcefully push up from underneath the rhino in an attempt to strike it in the belly in hopes of finding a weak point now that it was outside of the shell.
Nikukyuu land with a clap of dust, lips drawn thin and taut in a vicious snarl as she twist nimbly on her palm to face her opponent. Both she and her ninken had managed to escape from their attack unharmed, but as the pair lift their eyes to lock toward their opponent, it seemed their target, too, had means to slip away unscathed. The beast's true form had emerged from its crumbling shell, and as it trot merrily in invitation, Nikukyuu's muscles coil with intent.[break][break]
She was nearly set to launch when another rumble shook the earth under her fingers' touch. Suddenly, shards of rock were sent flying in every direction, fueled by a burst of chakra to see them cutting through the air. Despite the assault, it seemed the woman was still intent on charging in.[break][break]
❝ What do you say we make this c̶͔̭̈́͝o̶̯̞̊̎u̴͚̬̕n̷̘͎̂t̵͕̿? ❞[break][break]
Fingers dipped into the fabric of her sleeve, she drew an array of shuriken into her fingers, throwing their iron sharply to carve through the shards of earth flying her way. Ginmaru, of a similar mindset, duck his head as he launched himself forward, the tanto caught between the dog's fangs guide to cut through the incoming stone as he quickened his pace to loop around to his partner's side. With he pair reunited, bodies littered with cuts for what stones they hadn't managed to intercept, they shot forward at a blinding speed, a subtle nod grant toward Korogaru for her silent glance. The two were of the same mind on how to handle the matter.[break][break]
Weaving in alongside Kegawa, the woman and her hound matched their pace with the man's with ease, finding a natural rhythm as they carve a straight line for the rhinoceros prancing proudly ahead. With their speed building, the wind shift, and soon they were lost in a rotating gale of fang and claw.[break][break]

As the beast disappear in a cloud of smoke, the Ame genin gave a sharp yank of his chain, injured hand shooting forward to pluck its hook nimbly from the air. His land came with a tumbling roll, and as he came to a stop, he turned his eyes for the chaos across the way - gauging what his next action might be. In the moment, the animal seemed occupied, powerful attacks honing on it from all sides. The thought to cross his mind might have been self-depreciating, if not for the surprise of praise to crackle against his ear.[break][break]
It was subtle, the way he acknowledged the approval. A faint tilt of his head, the brief turn of his eyes.
