"Better. Now we can have an honest conversation." [break][break] A small gesture of his hand toward a somewhat large, cushioned chair in front of his desk. The choice to say nothing about her embarrassment, instead understanding and moving forward to learn more about the young Kunoichi. Anotsu rose and slowly made his way to his own seat, sitting with a nearly perfect posture before tossing it out of the window and leaning forward to clasp his hands atop his desk, forearms pressed at its edge. "Your cause is admirable. I can't say that I know what it feels like to want to protect your own flesh and blood. Both fortunately and unfortunately, what family I have stays far away from my affairs. I prefer it that way." A moment of transparency from the Uchiha was followed by a lock and key on any further prodding into the subject. He chose, instead, to focus on Aiko. "You've got a lot of weight on your shoulders, Aiko. But it isn't complicated at all. You understand the life that you've chosen. Or at least, you've begun to. And you want to be close to Hoshiko however possible." [break][break] Idly, his index finger tapped the surface of his desk. Little audio was produced, more a pensive ministration than anything else. "There will be Genin under your instruction, you understand. Just as much as I admire your dedication to your family, I -will- keep in question your ability to remain neutral and unbiased when the heat of the moment calls for your decision-making. I can't have you sacrificing a mission or command to protect your sister as the expense of another shinobi. Is that understood?" Aiko was the first to hear his voice reach a place of serious tone, of underlying consequences that need not be spoken. Anotsu's piercing gaze intensified just slightly, an almost imperceptible promise of due recompense hidden in his eyes meeting her own. The air grew thicker for a breath, an almost electric tension crackling from the Jounin's very presence. [break][break] "We have the most important position in Amegakure. Young lives are at stake here....and that's why I need to know who you are. You've been promoted off of your ability, your knowledge, your initiative. But there is far more to do, far greater lengths to surpass. Understand that under my command, there will be no room for error. Remember the names of every Genin on their Dossier. Familiarize yourself with their photos, their history, any family they may have. They have goals of their own. They need us to make that happen." [break][break] Anotsu eased in his intensity quite considerably, pulling Hoshiko's and Aiko's files. He placed each of them in front of him, comparatively glancing over them. It was clear that Aiko was one half of the whole. As such, he suspected that Hoshiko's presence and well-being were important to the bigger picture. That much, he would attempt to accommodate. "Any questions for me?" he asked casually, almost as if he hadn't dropped even more weight upon the Chuunin's shoulders. [break][break] [5:18 PM]
The rain was absent at this time of day, an almost perpetual autumn weather greeting the Uchiha as he ambled toward his destination. His hands were pushed casually into his pockets, the usual, as his ninja sandals crushed rock and flora alike. A pensive look was etched upon Anotsu's features as he reached the intended meeting point, his Jounin garb snug against an impressive musculature. A long scarf flowed gently against what winds were present, the hum and bustle of technology within Amegakure accompanying conversation he began to engage in as an elder approached. Daichi would be hard-pressed to hear what was being spoken. As he arrived, the sound of distant barking was prevalent to Anotsu's listening ear. As the young Genin approached and introduced himself, the corner of the Uchiha's lips turned upward into a smirk. [break][break] "I am....Chief", Anotsu replied with clear dissatisfaction. He'd have to address Daichi's lack of respect later. For now, there was a far greater pressing matter to attend to....one that Anotsu could have easily brought to a close. "And yes, we certainly will. And it just so happens that your first assignment is here." A small ball of fur zipped past the pair, its speed enough to create a gust of wind that was sure to create an unstable footing for the Genin before him. "Or rather....was." [break][break] The elder chuckled heartily as the small pup dashed off and into the distance, heading for forestry and barking with volume. "Your assignment is to bring back this gentleman's pup. I'll be following behind to make sure all flows smoothly." An expectant gaze fell upon Daichi as the barking decreased in volume, signifying its increasing distance from the pair as it raced off. Anotsu's hands clasped behind his back as he leaned in, offering Daichi a word of advice. [break][break] "....I suggest you get a move on if you're going to catch it." [break][break] "Thank you so much, Anotsu!" the old man exclaimed as he turned and slowly trudged back toward his home. Anotsu merely nodded, adjusting his sleeve before giving the Genin in front of him his undivided attention. "After you," the Uchiha stated. [break][break] Let the games begin. [break] [10:31 AM]
"And yet..." Anotsu began, his height allowing him to sit slightly at the edge of his desk and folding one arm over the other, "You don't understand that I want to know who you are beyond errands and information." Another soft chuckle, the shake of his head causing his silken locks to wave gently as he did so. They were all so mechanical, so formal. Had position truly outranked character? Anotsu's tongue slid forward to wet full, soft lips before he continued. "I suppose that I'm at fault for hitting you with the old man, long beard, ninja movie depth. Apologies." He tried a different approach this time, an arm gesturing toward her with palm up and a nod in the same direction. "Why are you a Chuunin? Why did you choose this life? Who is this Hyuuga girl that stands before me?" he asked. There was less wisdom, a more direct line of intent. Were they all like this? [break][break] "I can read these documents and never know any of you," the Uchiha explained. His gaze fell half-lidded, still piercing and still patient. That's just the kind of man he was. Those of his Rank were expected to be stiff, rigid, possessing little personality over missions and secrecy. But no, Anotsu had had enough of that upbringing. They deserved more from their Superiors. They deserved more than rank and file treatment. These were young souls, and the Jounin refused to subject them to the military life he'd grown up with. Too much character, and they would ease in their tasks and training. Too little character, and they would grow into their adulthood much the same way he did. And so Anotsu remained seated, no hidden meaning in his question or his expression. [break][break] They needed to trust each other. If their lives were going to be in the palm of his hands, they needed to understand that he knew just what it meant....to live. [break] [10:09 AM]
"Your lack of faith is noted, Uzumaki Koma. The words were stated with more of a matter-of-fact tone than one of disappointment or correction. There was no reprimand in Anotsu's voice, only the understanding that the figure before him was far from what a boy his age should have been. It reminded him of himself, back when there is a time when fun was little more than a concept he heard about from time to time. But he had to embrace his present, learn that there was no linear path in life. As such, he'd attempt to deliver that same purpose to the small machine sitting in front of him. "You already know who I am, so I won't bore you with pleasantries. They say that you can tell much about a man from how he eats and what he eats. So your first assignment under my command is a simple one: order what you enjoy most off of this menu. My tab." [break][break] It was at this point that the Uchiha's gaze broke away from Koma's, pools of purple making swift motions left and right as he pondered over his choice of meal. Hopefully, Koma would relax under the knowledge that his every move wasn't being scrutinized by some invisible force of judgement. No, the Jounin had moved on to far more important matters. "We'll be meeting with the rest of our Platoon at some point in the next few days," Anotsu stated as a thumb parted the menu to continue his browsing. Anotsu was relaxed, his posture nearly perfect and yet the seemingly chilled air around him rich with confidence and a regal tone. "I suggest you learn how to act more like flesh and blood than gears and cogs by then. For their sake....and yours." [break][break] The rain continued to fall heavily outside, their booth located near a window so that Anotsu could take the occasional glance outside. Much had changed over the years in Amegakure. No longer was there a perpetual rain, and he was silently thankful for it. There was still a listening ear for Koma as he wandered off mentally, privy to the personalities under his Platoon and wondering just how far apart they were.....or perhaps how close. Anotsu was now responsible for lives that weren't his own, much more than when he had been a Chuunin. To that end, he was determined to mold them into the capable. How successful he'd be, he wondered as his gaze fell back upon Koma, was anyone's guess. [break] [9:58 AM]
"Relax." He'd already examined the necessary information from the correspondence sent to him, turning toward Aiko and allowing the corner of his lips to turn upward into an amused smirk. "You'd think you were standing in front of a Jounin or something." A chuckle, his chest rising and falling softly with the gesture. Anotsu could only wonder just how much of their personnel behaved in a manner that forced these Genin to be so nervous. He wanted to break - shatter - that ice. Undoubtedly, it would be important for their first outing in the field. It was strange to the Uchiha: could they see through him? Was he so relaxed that they could dig beneath the surface of his social skills and peer into the depths of what was buried below? It was true that Anotsu was a lion. But it was a fool that refused to see the importance of teamwork, of reassurance to those who desperately wanted to forge a future for themselves. In that regard, Anotsu offered Aiko a second chance to answer his question. "I knew that these documents were on the way. I mean....why are you here?" Silence would prevail once the question was answered again. But this time, Anotsu did nothing more than look at the young Chuunin before him with undivided attention. [break][break] He wondered if she could answer the question without fear, without nervousness knocking at the doorstep of her character. Statuesque, Anotsu did nothing to assist her in finding the answer he sought. Did she think it deep? So trivial that her answer needed to be practiced and mechanical? Was she so resolved to the fate of pleasing her Superiors that she couldn't form her own opinion? Anotsu wanted to shatter these thoughts. They lived dangerous lives. There was no sense in wasting it on pleasantries. [break][break] [6:19 PM]
"Trouble?" Anotsu asked. While the question was answered with a single-word question of its own, the Jounin was beginning to understand the futility in his attempts. And so he kept walking, hoping to provide Koma with further security by pushing his hands deep into the folds of his pockets. "Answer the question." More direct this time and leaving the Genin with no room to circumvent answering. Their positions were clear, that much he could surmise by the fact that Koma continued to walk with him. As they approached the ramen shop, the Uchiha nodded respectfully to the staff within and motioned toward a booth hidden toward the back of the establishment. He said nothing, gently tugging once more at his scarf before he met the cushion of what would be his resting place for the time being. One arm resting atop its twin, the Jounin waited until Koma was fully seated. If no answer had come by then, the undivided attention Anotsu gave to him was indication that he'd wait for one. [break][break] Admittedly, there was no true facial expression upon Anotsu's handsome features. There was only a half-lidded gaze, piercing and inquisitive in its silence. Lips remained sealed as menus arrived, though the Uchiha never strayed from looking at Koma with an almost imperceptible, expectant stare. Words wouldn't provoke the conversation that Anotsu desired to have with Koma. No, this was a boy who needed far more than syllables and a pointed finger. He needed a safe space, one that his Jounin hoped to provide him. [break][break] Once more, the ball was in Koma's court. [break][break] [6:10 PM]
Aiko would certainly find herself in the belly of the beast, so to speak. But it wasn't exactly what the young Chuunin would have come to expect. As she lifted her gaze to speak to Anotsu, she'd come to witness a moment of viciousness, of ferocity, of passion... [break][break] Anotsu was completely stuffing his face with a large bowl of ramen. The bowl, far too large to be convenient for the average human, was on tilt as the Uchiha devoured its contents. Possessing manners enough not to slurp or leave speckles of broth all over the place, the hungry Jounin's chopsticks moved with expert precision as he gulped and swallowed. Upon hearing a girl's voice, however, such ministrations came to an instant halt. "Mmm....Mhm!" Anotsu exclaimed. Immediately, he lowered the bowl to his desk and provided Aiko with a huge smile as his eyes shot to a close. "Apologies! It was....a late lunch for me," the Jounin confessed. Luminescent purple orbs gave Aiko a once over before he casually slid the bowl to the end of his desk. A hand lifted to push back locks of obsidian, every inch of his hair kempt and groomed. Almond-shaped eyes regarded her with an inquisitive appearance. [break][break] "Not busy enough to ignore a subordinate. Here, allow me." It was barely a breath later when Anotsu vanished, appearing before Aiko and securing the contents of the box in her arms. Effortlessly he turned, placing it upon his desk and taking a moment to thumb through it almost meticulously. He stood to the side so as not to turn his back to her - a respect he always intended to give. As eyebrows furrowed in deep thought, full lips parted to speak. [break][break] "Tell me, Aiko....why are you here?" [break][break] [12:42 PM]
Anotsu might have taken a moment to ensure Koma that he hadn't incurred a wrath or earned a penalty if the Genin's question hadn't sounded so neutral. A simple "No." As they traversed the linear space beyond the alleyway, the young Koma could see Anotsu assisting with various tasks: hoisting groceries, handing small bags of ryo to select civilians, speaking to the lone and frail. They were making the daily patrol, though there was far more to Anotsu's ministrations than he would let on. "Those kittens back there. Why were you caring for them?" Anotsu asked. He let the question linger for Koma to clutch onto as he continued on, nodding in acknowledgement to any who would do the same to him. The Uchiha seemed unbothered in the slightest by the downpour. Perhaps obvious for one who was a native, but it was testament to Anotsu's strength of will. [break][break] In truth, the Jounin wanted to know his Genin. Beyond the dossier, beyond the papers, beyond the observations in the academy. There was no doubt in Anotsu's mind that every case was different, every soul was brighter or darker than the last....if one even believed in such a thing. Koma was no different. A marionette on the outside he appeared to look, but a cornered animal had always been underestimated. Anotsu wouldn't make that same mistake. If the boy's perception was as adequate as the Uchiha suspected, he'd notice their trek toward a ramen shop just up the road. [12:25 PM]

Anotsu ambled slowly onto the grounds, both hands pushed casually into the folds of his pockets. The crunch and slight shift of terra beneath his sandals was seemingly purposeful. Though his youthful countenance was veiled by a thick obsidian scarf, the Uchiha's visage spoke of intrigue. Spiked locks swayed gently against the gale, shinobi garb snug against his person and successfully hiding the pouch that rest beneath the folds of his clothing. Chocolate skin peeked out here and there from Anotsu's attire, lines of definition more than evident upon his frame. Naturally arched eyebrows furrowed just slightly as he stopped his trek, standing completely upright with shoulders back. His chin dipped to a degree. Anotsu now stood at the edge of the arena, peering in at the hulking beast that made its approach. [break][break] There were few things in life that could surprise him. This, perhaps fortunately for him, was not one of them. "Acquired." The only word that parted full lips. A hand lofted, his index finger hooked into the scarf covering his countenance and tugged it south. He surveyed the land, taking in every inch of the environment. The winds, the grip of the soil and flora beneath his feet. While his quarry was the priority, there was little doubt in Anotsu's mind that this would not be as simple as physical engagement. He remembered the words of those who had witnessed this gargantuan creature in its birth of kinetic energy. And so he kept his distance, content to examine the area and leave no stone unturned.....and no, that wasn't an Iwagakure pun. [break][break] His forearm gave a brush along his pouch, the pad of his index finger running along its exterior. He'd adjusted every item inside to a meticulous degree. As Anotsu took a moment to shift his gaze east and west in search of other patrons in their arrival, he took up a statuesque position and measured the rhinoceros's gait. Every bit of information was critical. He would be remiss to underestimate this seemingly mythical creature. The Uchiha could only hope that the few townsfolk who had come to spectate would increase distance when the fighting began. [10:52 PM]
Koma had to have been aware that the Jounin was standing nearby. Or perhaps he simply didn't care. Either way, the Uchiha took no offense to the gesture - or lack thereof - and took few steps forward to more closely examine the Genin's ministrations. A single hand lofted, motioning toward the kittens as his lips parted. "Walk with me. But consider this before we go: are you going to be their temporary provision....or are you going to give them a permanent solution to their cries for help?" The question posed, the Jounin turned upon a heel and retreated from the alley back into the bustle of the nooks and crannies of Amegakure. [break][break] [6:36PM]

Anotsu enjoyed the rain. One might have adorned him in cape and spandex for such an obvious statement, but the magic of the village had never been lost to him.
Perhaps it was the perpetual blanket of rain that did it. Or perhaps it was his ability to thrive in such an environment despite its lack of appeal to those who desired the comfort of warmer - drier - climates. Whatever the reason, the Jounin was usually perched atop a rather large edifice with no intent to disturb the patrons below. Today was no different.
Half-lidded orbs of luminescent purple regarded the village with only what interest was necessary. Shinobi garb of obsidian fit snug against his athletic frame, various designs of tribal fashion woven into the fabric to give it a certain artistic finesse. Occasional winds forced his spiked locks and an elongated, thick scarf to sway gently, revealing the youthful countenance that gazed so watchfully over the inhabitants below. Crouched at the edge of his current position, perfect balance kept every muscle poised for whatever action the Uchiha may have seen fit. "Mm.." The single, audible sign that Anotsu was in deep thought. Such was usually the case when the village was able to find respite. But as Anotsu prepared to launch himself forward and retreat to his private quarters, those pools of purple spotted a hooded figure making his journey into a nearby alleyway.
Pursed lips parted to sigh. How he wished that the less fortunate didn't suffer so. He was no priest, no good Samaritan. He simply knew what hunger without the means to quell it felt like. Left palm pressed to the wet concrete beneath him, Anotsu hopped forward at an angle and made a swift descent toward the ground below. An expert landing allowed him to make no noise as his ninja sandals met with his intended drop point. There was only the heavy pitter-patter of the rain, the Jounin landing in a crouch for moments before standing to his feet and turning toward that same alley. Careful so as not to disturb the sleeping civilian, he fished into his pocket and drew upon a small bag of ryo. The sack was placed out of the view of wanderers and into the fold of the patron's side. And just as quickly as he had given such a gesture, Anotsu pushed his hands into his pockets and ambled further into the alleyway in an attempt to give the same courtesy to the hooded child.
But before his lips could part, he witnessed the sight before him and chose to remain statuesque as footfall ended with feet planted close together. Anotsu dare not disturb the kittens, nor the project that Koma was engaged in. And so he was content to watch, the Jounin having studied the dossier and familiarizing himself with its roster. The introductions could wait. It was clear that Koma was on a rescue mission.
[break] With the desire to protect his Platoon growing from a flame into an inferno, Uchiha Anotsu has found strength through the passion of emotion. Though only the initial stage of his Clan's prowess, the Sharingan's appearance has awakened a newfound power that offers Anotsu an increased perception to that around him. The first tomoe has manifest, marking the beginnings of its greatest potential within the eyes of an Uchiha bound by duty.
taijutsu - [veteran]
- Time and effort have allowed Anotsu to enhance his strength and speed, climbing to a height that allows him to stand upon a precipice of extreme strength and agility. The Uchiha has used his spare time to take up the Martial Arts, intimately versed in Jiujitsu and its Brazilian ilk. Every strike from his hands and legs are akin to that of swift hammers, his every grapple and pin reminiscent of the grip and manipulation of a boa constrictor. Anotsu has also learned self-defense in these styles, turning an opponent's physical strikes into submission and restraint. Make no mistake - the Uchiha is no stranger to leaving specifics behind and adapting to the uncertainty of his opponent's ministrations. Brute strength, slipping in and out of range with the speed of a hummingbird, is elegance in smplicity.
shurikenjutsu - [journeyman]
Anotsu has honed his throwing prowess to much greater degree in his days. Able to swiftly pluck items of various size and weight from their resting place, the Uchiha is able to create a projectile of varying speed and result. His fingers are nimble, often his target unpleasantly surprised that the shinobi has struck the intended area with little effort. Whether a kunai or a senbon needle, Anotsu can turn an inanimate object into a makeshift bullet.
stealth - [journeyman]
There are few who can appreciate the art of Genjutsu. Anotsu is one of those individuals. While he possesses no proficiency as of yet in such a category, he has instead trained in the art of stealth to deceive and elude would-be attackers. Able to move swiftly while maintaining quiet, Anotsu is quite knowledgeable about flora and fauna and the disturbance of environment. Concealment is sometimes priority over a head on approach. That much, Anotsu has learned over the years of being exposed to direct and indirect combat situations.
uchiha - [heritage]
Anotsu's veins run deep with the blood of the Uchiha Clan. A constant source of conflict with his father, Mazoku, leaves him dwelling between anger and pride in regards to his family. Since awakening the Sharingan, the Jounin has become determined to change his fate and prove otherwise to the history and judgement of they who wield the Scarlet Eye.
Suiton - [Journeyman]
How obtuse it must look to be well-versed in Water when the intimacy of Fire has been at the forefront of the Uchiha Clan for generations. Anotsu has unlocked the ability to perform Suiton techniques, the first of his journey into the territory of the Ranton potential that lay dormant within. Though admittedly, his ability to utilize Ninjutsu of this caliber costs him a considerable amount of chakra. At the very least, the Jounin has learned how to traverse the surface of water without much effort in his studies. He is in the process of learning the intricacies of water manipulation, requiring an appropriate water source if he is to engage in mid to long range combat using its ebb and flow. With only a few techniques in his repertoire, the Uchiha has much and more to learn about the Art of the Water Release.
ranton - [potential]
A certain power lies dormant within Anotsu. The Uchiha has yet to realize or understand its potential, though his interest in Raiton (Lightning Release) and Suiton (Water Release) have always been of great interest to him. Unfortunately, Anotsu is as of yet unable to perform either of these Releases with his current range of abilities.

「 summary 」
Confident. Intelligent. Regal. Patient. Calculating. [break][break] These are just a few words that describe the 25-Year Old Uchiha Anotsu. The shinobi stands at 5'11, an athletic frame usually adorned by appropriate garb of variety that protects against the climate. Almond-shaped, luminescent purple pools regard those before or around him with respect, though Anotsu's youthful features can be mistaken for a young and inexperienced shinobi of apathy and sardonic nature at times. Quite the opposite is true, however. Anotsu cares about his Superiors and Subordinates equally, his every ministration designed to teach a lesson or further a goal. One would find it a hard act to place the Uchiha in a social box. He's simply and unapologetically "him", his loyalty unmatched and his resolve an impregnable fortress of careful thought and consideration. [break][break] Anotsu's skin is unmarred and a milk chocolate color, lines of definition testament to his physical condition. Locks of spiked obsidian adorn his crown, silken to the touch and able to reach just beyond his shoulders when not tied into a long ponytail. Arched eyebrows are usually furrowed, though this is more habit than natural feature. Anotsu possesses a piercing gaze, though anyone close to him will charge it to his intense concentration and not his heart. [break][break] Born and raised in Amegakure, Anotsu is no stranger to the advances of technology. A young age did nothing to stall his parents and their desire to educate him. With this in mind, "fun" was a luxury that the Uchiha rarely participated in. Despite this upbringing, however, Anotsu knows how to have a good time. The pleasure side of him is a stark contrast to his business side. Anotsu is just as ready with a blade as he is a book. To underestimate his prowess is to flirt with his ferocity, the Uchiha relentless on the battlefield and willing to take a life to protect himself or those around him. Anotsu is quite educated on the rise and fall of Hi No Kuni, as well. The young shinobi believes that education is key to relationships, opting for books and rapport over ignorance and a lack of awareness. This grants him a certain "silver tongue", Anotsu well-versed in flattery and seduction. While deceit is naturally the game of shinobi, his character remains honest and unflinching in the face of any circumstance. [break][break] Love him or hate him, Uchiha Anotsu is a shinobi worthy of respect. With a favorite hobby of learning about weaponry and cooking, he prides himself on being an asset to those around him. Validation is hardly a concern for him, but positive results and a helping hand give him a sense of purpose. This is enough to coax him into action, Anotsu willing and ready to assist if his heart is truly in it. Power corrupts, but allow it to coalesce with heart and you have Uchiha Anotsu.
