Sharp like an edge of a samurai sword, the mental blade cut through flesh and bone. Though my mind's at peace, the worlds out of order, missing the inner heat, life gets colder
Outside of the village, away from the hollowed-out tunnels and bustling streets of people, was truly where freedom could be sought after and achieved. Granted, he knew it was impossible to escape the life of a Shinobi, but at least he'd come around to enjoying the simple things in life to keep his mind balanced. It was for this reason alone that he found himself away from the village once more, on a personal day if you could call it that. Perhaps he may have not reported in to his superiors, and maybe there was a hint of disobedience towards the idea of him helping out some of the village's Genin that led to it, but everything seemed to always work itself out.
He was a son of the Uchiha, but an idealist was the last thing he aimed to be. Maybe he was a bit more independent and willing to follow his heart, but it was that same heart that prevented him from ever truly going against the wishes of his clan. Quite the conundrum it was, but what was he supposed to do when the walls seemed to close ever closer upon him?
Leave, of course.
Into the forests, and across the rolling hills that dotted Fire Country North, he stumbled upon one of the smaller villages in the region. It was here that he chose to hide out from time to time, carrying neither weapons, a vest, or even a headband to signify who he was. He was just another traveller for as far as the locals could care, and this made it easy for him to find a spot to laze around and clear his mind of thoughts.
He was keen on enjoying the ambience of the forest, taking in the sights and smells as he lingered around the outskirts of the little village. Yusuke was aiming for a nap before the afternoon ran out, and nearly settled beneath a tree when something bright caught his attention. It was nothing more than the glint of light through the trees, but his eyes traced the glint to a nearby hill, and so too did his feet begin to follow. It was curiosity that mainly got him to move, but it wasn't his first time being privy to an ambush by the Empire's forces. Not like he could help, with his lack of weapons or anything useful, but his gut drove him onwards until the hill was finally in sight.
An eyebrow raised in response to what he saw. It wasn't samurai or ashigaru, but instead, a woman who seemed to have the same idea as him. His eyes locked onto the weapon she carried, and a grin crept onto his lips as he strolled up to the tree and sat on the grass a few feet away. Yusuke leaned back against the grass, resting the back of his head against his hands to provide enough of an incline to still take in the sights.
"There's a pretty good breeze this time of year."
His gaze would shift away from the scenic view beneath them, settling onto the woman beneath the tree once more.
"...But I didn't realize the locals carried Katanas 'round these parts."
He eyed the weapon in the lap for only a moment, then returned his gaze forwards to feel the breeze once more.

Sharp like an edge of a samurai sword, the mental blade cut through flesh and bone. Though my mind's at peace, the worlds out of order, missing the inner heat, life gets colder
Among those who gathered was the newly felt presence of the handful of shinobi who hailed from Hidden Sound. At their head moved the newly-promoted Chunun, clad in the unzipped vest that marked him as a member of their village's military. They arrived in time to hear the declaration from the Jounin wielding the massive spear, to which Yusuke couldn't help but roll his eyes at in response.
He stepped ahead of the small formation at his rear, no more than a handful of shinobi at best. While he'd freely admit that the man held logic with his reasoning, the Chunin simply didn't like the tone that oozed out of the shinobi's lips. There was something a bit too cocky, to say the least about it. Regardless of their current location or the plethora of individuals who gathered to observe the beast, it was something that he naturally couldn't let go unaddressed.
Another step separated him further from his squad, his eyes glazing across those gathered before his visage settled onto the Jounin.
"At best, one of these little lambs might get hurt." He spoke up, making sure to project his voice loud enough to catch his attention. A finger jabbed in the direction of the unknown girl who thought it was a good idea to aggravate the beast from the jump.
"And at worst, one of those little lambs might just take your prize."
A grin settled onto his lips with that said, his overall demeanor suggesting that he was lukewarm to the idea of being told what to do by the Jounin. He had no intention of actually turning the situation hot, given that the man was a Jounin, and that their orders were to investigate and handle the situation accordingly. A diplomatic blunder wasn't quite worth the risk, nor was his recently acquired rank.
Nonetheless, he wasn't above defending his pride when subtle insults were being levied with no clear or intended target. Call it a fault of his youth, but it was what it was. In any case, Yusuke seemed poised to assert himself as the lead Shinobi behind him, and for now, they were playing it cool. The beast had yet to make a move, and until then, neither would they.

Sharp like an edge of a samurai sword, the mental blade cut through flesh and bone. Though my mind's at peace, the worlds out of order, missing the inner heat, life gets colder
An eye slowly opened upon hearing the sound of the Kage Tower's doors begin to creak back open with life. He caught a glance of the woman at first, the slight beginnings of a smirk creeping onto his face as she rounded the corner. Within an instant it had ceded away, and so too did his eyes return back to the "sleeping" position from before. The stage had been returned to normal, and just in time for the woman to comment on the apparently unaware Uchiha.
"Low priority assignment, paired with what was supposed to be my day off. Stayin' awake is the least of my priorities right now."
Yusuke replied, his foot kicking off the wall slowly, and his eyelids opening to reveal a pair of tired, brown eyes. He took the opportunity to look the Chunin up and down, sizing her up on one hand whilst marveling at her features on the other. "Interesting." He continued, a hand sliding out of his pocket and extending out to his wayward cousin. "I kinda assumed our kin would be different in other villages, but-" He nodded towards her hair, the smirk returning to its usual spot on his face. "Didn't realize we came in all different shades."
He'd keep his hand extended until she either shook it or turned him down. All teasing aside, he did seem genuinely interested in the differences that he and Miyako had apart. Though he wasn't positive if her shade of hair was common among her kin or not, he figured she'd give him a clue one way or another eventually. Regardless, such trivial differences weren't all that important among his own people. He could've come out as blonde as an Uzumaki, and his parents would've only been concerned if his prowess as a shinobi had suffered as a result. Such was the way of the Uchiha he'd been born in; it's what made them who they were when the darkness had almost claimed his ancestors.
"Anyway- i'm Yusuke. Guess i'll be keeping you company for a while."

Sharp like an edge of a samurai sword, the mental blade cut through flesh and bone. Though my mind's at peace, the worlds out of order, missing the inner heat, life gets colder
Yusuke muttered beneath his breath, attempting to ignore the rumbling pain emanating from his gut. His eyes shifted every so often from the orders in his hand and onto the busy road in front of him, the tired Chunin occasionally weaving through the mass of civilians lining the road. It was his first assignment since he'd been back, and one that he didn't have any real gripes about doing. A plethora of shinobi from the surrounded villages had been arriving in the village over the past week, which meant there were plenty of outsiders who needed chaperoning, advice, or otherwise.
Apparently, it was decided that Yusuke was the best choice to accompany a miss Miyako Uchiha, given their similar age and clan connection. The latter meant little to him, considering the differences amongst the clans after their diaspora from Konoha. The former didn't matter much either, but nonetheless, he took the assignment with no complaints and made his way across to the Kage's Tower to meet up with his...cousin.
It was a short stroll if anything, as the Uchiha Compound of Hidden Sound wasn't all that far off from the tower itself. Making his way down the street in his usual streetwear, Yusuke more or less blended in, with his dull black pants and the plain T-shirt with not a single insignia in view. Had it not been for the headband around his upper arm, one could easily assume that the adolescent was just another civilian going about his day. Veering off from the road and towards the tower, Yusuke appeared in view with a half-smile on his face and his hands resting in his pockets.
He approached the side of the great doors and placed his back against the wall, a single foot pressed against the wall and his eyes partially closed. The yawn that escaped his lips would more or less confirm that he'd only gotten up in the past thirty minutes, but at least he wasn't late to his first assignment or left his kin hanging out to dry while he slept in. He had a habit of showing up early, anyway, and Yusuke would use this time to rest and relax until this Uchiha by the name of Miyako arrived. Till then, he'd try to slip back into a little nap, at least until doors creaked opened and knocked him back awake.

A single eye opened at first, his mind calling the small little nap to an end with the appearance of his friend. Yusuke couldn't help but smile when he saw who it was, rising to his feet a moment later and letting out a loud yawn as he stretched his arms into the air. His eyes focused upon Kaede once he was finished getting the laziness out of his body, and the smile on his face couldn't help but expand even further. Kaede had grown up, much like himself, but he couldn't help but marvel at just how much she still looked the same. Their academy years were the bright spot of his past, and one of the few memories that could brighten up his mood during those long days and weeks out in the field. It was a dampener on his mood when he came back to the village more isolated than ever, but Kaede had once more found a way to brighten up his day.
"Yo!"
He pushed off the tree fully, taking a few more steps until the two of them were pretty close. Yusuke looked her over, his hands shoved in his pockets as he did so. "It's kinda hard to believe that you're the same Kaede from back then. I mean, sure, you look the same...but uhh-" Yusuke paused for a moment, considering the right way to frame what he wanted to say. He smiled it off a few seconds later, taking a step back, and smiling softly. "But I'd be a shitty friend if I forgot your face in the span of two years."
Sure, he'd gotten taller over those past couple of years, but Yusuke thought he mostly looked the same. Despite standing at around six feet tall, the Uchiha's features had not changed all that much, other than a plethora of scars that lined his frame beneath his shirt. Luckily for him, those were hidden well enough to leave them as a story for another time. The last thing he wanted to do was to start their reunion off with him regaling her over his battle scars, or worse yet, worrying her about the plenty that was sure to come in the future.

The words were cut off from his mouth when the fishing rod was shoved into his hands, and his newfound friend went for the squirming fish that had found itself, unfortunately, hooked onto the end of the line. He let out a small laugh at the sight of the scene unfolding, taking a moment to step a bit closer to towards the water's edge in order to give Kakesu more room to work with. The first half of their dinner looked poised to escape the boy's grip it seemed, and Yusuke would only sit back for a few moments longer until he decided to give Kakesu a helping hand.
Having spent so much time in the wilderness these past couple of years, Yusuke had picked up a few tricks here and there when it came to the art of survival. Some were more efficient than others, whereas the current one he was considering was much more of an improvisation than anything else. He gripped the rod tightly, slinging it beneath his arm as he maneuvered his free hand down towards his hip. A hand slid beneath the velcro strap of the hip-mounted holster, retrieving from it a single senbon with a thin wire attached to the end. Whilst Kakesu struggled to keep the fish from making its great escape, Yusuke calmly followed the scene with his eyes. Crimson features overtook the brown of his eyes, swirling into effect with the activation of his Sharingan eyes.
"Just hold 'em still a bit.." He muttered, not to nobody in particular. A moment passed, and then he acted without hesitation, and to perhaps even to the surprise of his friend. The senbon was released right towards the fish in Kakesu's hands, digging beneath the scaley flesh and entering the area beneath its gills. He tightened the wire between his fingers and yanked the wire as hard as he could, pulling the now lifeless fish from the hands of Kakesu and onto the ground near the water's edge.
"Success!"
He smirked, wiping his hands clean in an exaggerated manner and giving Kakesu a satisfied grin. Yusuke pushed off the rock's face and quickly removed the needle from the fish, and handed the rod back towards Kakesu when he was done. "You'd be surprised what you'll think of when you're hungry for fish and don't have a rod." He continued. "But I'd say we make a pretty awesome fish-catchin' team, eh?"

Sup! I'd def be up to thread with these two for sure. As far as how they could run into eachother, considering they're both Chunin and Uchiha, it could be something of the sort where maybe Yusuke's been tasked with escorting her around to places she might wanna go? Inter-village relations and all that good stuff lol.
I think they could be friends, attitude differences aside. Whereas she'd have a stick in the mud attitude, he's pretty nonchalant and easy to vibe with, so they should be able to vibe in some capacity. Def could be interesting to see how they interact and all that. Lemme know whatchu think!
Yusuke's spent the past couple of years mostly away from the village doing missions, which means that he's had few opportunities as of recent to acquire new friends, aside from potential rendezvous outside of the village or as teammates on missions. Despite the cold-looking exterior, he's an awesome person to call your friend, and overall a pretty chill dude when the circumstances allow. He's open for close friends from his academy or Genin years, friends made when he was outside of Oto during these past two years, and new friends as well.
hateships
You've had to really piss him off to end up as someone who he truly does hate. For those who fall into that category, Yusuke can be your worst nightmare, or perhaps even your greatest rival if that's how the situation ends up lining up. Whatever works.
loveships
This is something that he's not really been focusing on much, all things considered. For this i'd say he's much more inclined to just go with the flow and see where things happen naturally, so yeah. We'll see.

Sharp like an edge of a samurai sword, the mental blade cut through flesh and bone. Though my mind's at peace, the worlds out of order, missing the inner heat, life gets colder
A lot had changed since the last time he could stroll through the village without the worry of being sent out once more. He'd grown apart from many of his friends, but not by choice. His duties came first during that long stretch of serving not just Hidden Sound, but the clan to who he was indebted for his life. Yusuke could've gone on and on about the honor of the Uchiha, and the legacy that he was supposed to uphold in the eyes of others, but truthfully he was tired of it all. Two years had passed since the last time he'd been home for more than a couple of days, and there was nothing anybody could tell him about duty and legacy after that.
Two long years of the same old routine, and in the end, he knew that it would never be enough. There were always enemies lurking within the shadows, and the ones who chose to hunt during the day were far worse than the others. The Empire was the latter, and its soldiers were a common enemy that he faced during his time away from home. If anything he was just happy to be able to return home, especially when there were plenty of others who didn't prove as lucky as him.
He couldn't help but question if it was worth it during those solitary moments on his own. Whether it was at home in his room, or off on a stroll through the village, the thoughts trickled down into the front of his mind with increasing frequency. They'd gone out into the crucible to face down their enemy, only to find that their victories were always bittersweet in the end. Enough comrades had been lost for the fledgling Chunin to feel the despair that all warriors eventually would have to overcome, but the present time was not the right day for that occasion.
Having reached out to several of his old friends from his time at the academy, he was a bit disappointed when only one of them had decided to contact him back so far. Seeking to get his mind off the thoughts that were troubling him the past days, the two of them had planned to meet up at the old training ground they use to frequent in those days long since past. Yusuke arrived first, deviating from his usual morning stroll through the village to make his way there early. There he could be found lazing on the ground beneath a tree, his hands locked together behind his head as he pressed back against the solid oak. With his eyes loosely shut together, he allowed his mind to ease off into a light nap, patiently waiting until the familiar sound of footsteps began tapping their way closer to the field.

Yusuke's grin widened after his host replied in favor of him sticking around for something to eat. His gaze immediately swung across the campsite, taking in the outskirts of the small clearing in search of any dead wood lingering on the ground. He went to work picking up the pieces that were least damp than the others, piling them up in his arms before making his way towards the fire.
The slight air of awkwardness was understandable given his surprise entrance, but Yusuke didn't seem to emit an air of uncertainty around him where he moved. The older of the two boys threw a few pieces of wood into the fire as his newfound companion spoke up once again. "Oh, you know. A little bit of this, a little bit of that." Yusuke chimed back a moment later, dodging the question with impassivity, yet still engaging in the conversation. He stoked the fire a bit more, moving around some of the coals with a forked piece of wood. "I was travelin' with a few friends. Ended up getting lost about.." A hand cupped his chin. "...Probably five, or ten miles east, a bit deeper into the forest."
He shrugged. It was close enough to the truth, and it would prove infinitely healthier to his new friend's condition to not know the fine details of what he was up to. After he was satisfied with the fire's intensity, Yusuke would join Kakesu near the water's edge, lowering down onto a nearby boulder and getting as comfortable as it would allow. His eyes moved across the pond, looking for the tell-tale signs of fish waiting to bite.
"I'm Yusuke, by the way."

It wasn't his usual plan of action to get lost in the woods in the middle of a mission. Granted the circumstances that led to this were a bit out of his control, it wouldn't stop Yusuke from smacking himself upside the head in the end. A few hours of silence in the forest was about enough for him to get over what had happened in the hours before, and a few more hours of searching to realize that none of his team were anywhere near his location. A silent curse followed this revelation, or rather there wasn't anybody around to hear him yelling to the sky.
It was supposed to be the final stretch before he could finally head back home. He was craving a homecooked meal after all the back-to-back missions, and a nap on a comfortable bed was the next appealing thought on his mind. The realization that their mission had gone sideways, and as a result he was now stuck somewhere near Earth Country, meant that home was once more off the table for now. The mission was still active, missing team or not, which meant they were in for a terribly timed game of hide-and-seek until they found each other in the woods.
"Nothing."
He said in frustration, digging his heel into a set of footprints that were definitely made by himself at some point doing his search. Yusuke reached across to his bicep and untied the headband he kept latched onto his arm. They were far too close to unfriendly territory for him to risk being brazen with his loyalties, and as such, it was stuffed in his pocket until further notice.
The hours that followed were pretty much a blur as he combed the area, searching every potential path and clue to the location of where his team had dispersed. Once again there was nothing, except for the familiar smell of a campfire in the air. It was faint at first, but his nose honed into the scent and he followed it with haste.
Yusuke emerged from the woods to view the scenic little clearing with visible confusion at first. After all the bushwacking he'd been forced to undergo, it was a relief to find something that wasn't just more trees for his eyes to parse through. Yusuke settled his eyes upon the individual who was relaxing on a nearby log, perched over the pond with a wooden rod in his hands. He felt his stomach grumble at the thought of grilling up the fish that were hiding beneath the waters and raised a peace sign up with his hand as he stepped into view. "Yo!" He called out, only just loud enough for the other person in the area to hear.
"Think there's enough fish in here to make dinner for two?"

The Uchiha had long occupied Hi no Kuni before the fall of their former village, and deep within the hearts of his ancestors brewed a desire for revenge against those who destroyed it. That same desire brought his ancestors to Otogakure when it was formed, where their branch would settle into a life of service once more. Whether it was the Daimyo's Samurai or the Shinobi of a rival village, that first generation of migrants would do battle on the frontlines for the next several decades, all but demons in the flesh with their hate-fueled desire to go to war. The sons and daughters of the Uchiha had been molded into a fine-tuned machine for war, but the cost was bloody, given their fanatical desire to war against the village's enemies. Their numbers grew scarce as one would suspect would be the outcome of their actions. Those who remained would embrace their Curse of Hatred, believing it was the best way forwards to ensure their collective potential would not be wasted. So much so was the famed Sharingan sought after by his ancestors, many would eventually take to fratricide to achieve the intended result.
Their quest for power had tainted their vision, and perhaps he would not have been born if his clan had continued down that cursed path to achieving their power. Luckily for him, his grandfather proved strong enough to assume leadership over their clan, but at the cost of his brother, the previous head of their clan. Ironic as it was, his grandfather's Sharingan would grow stronger through the incident, and an era of potential darkness had been avoided as a whole. Brothers would become brothers once again, and the Uchiha would strive to unlock their gifts without turning their blades upon each other. The Uchiha weren't just shinobi; they were warriors born from an age of strife in the past, much like the current. Harkening back to their roots, the Clan elected to embrace their warrior roots to the fullest, raising each successive generation to be warriors of their clan first, then shinobi of their village. Though the Uchiha of his clan have silenced their previously loud cries to reconquer their home, the will of fire still burns bright within their hearts. It's passed down from one generation to the next and indoctrinated into their minds-- next to the tale of their greatest shame.
Yusuke's generation was no different. Granted, half a century had made things a bit more modernized and forward-thinking. He was still raised to be a warrior, to fight and kill the enemies of their clan & village. To unlock the Sharingan is still an important and prized tradition, and in this regard, Yusuke hasn't disappointed his family or ancestors. Several skirmishes and a handful of close-calls against the Daimyo's Samurai were the catalysts to his ascension, in a manner of speaking. Obtaining the Sharingan had proved him worthy of being his father's son, and the grandson of the man who brought their Clan from the brink of self-destruction. Were his father to fall in battle, and his grandfather to kick the bucket from old age, then it would rightfully fall to him to lead the clan in their stead.
It is an honor that he wants no part of anytime soon, and so he crosses his fingers that neither of them kicks the bucket in the next twenty or so years.
Regardless, he's pretty content where he's at now. The rank of Chunin eventually fell into his lap, a consequence of his parent and grandparent throwing their clan's weight to ensure that he was assigned successive combat-orientated missions for two years straight. Yusuke was almost certain that the two were trying to get him killed, and when he unlocked the next Tomoe of his Sharingan, he understood that was entirely their goal from the beginning. With that spree of violence over and his career done being manipulated, Yusuke returned to the village to resume the normal duties of his rank. He's taken to absorbing back into village life and honing his abilities in his spare time, moving his focus away from the power held in his eyes and towards the practical abilities that kept him alive in the first place. He's also been dabbling in something special that he picked up on one of his missions. An ace in the hole, if you will.
Other than that, he's pretty much going with the flow until the next round of danger comes rolling his way.
Proficiencies
Uchiha Heritage The blood of the Uchiha is strong within this one. Not to say that he's anything special, but the elders of his clan had always assumed that he would unlock the Sharingan, much like his father and grandfather before him. Being that unlocking the Sharingan is considered a rite of passage for those of his clan, a warrior of their clan does not obtain their gift through false circumstances of life and death. True threat of losing one's life is typically the preferred method, and those circumstances have been provided to him in abundance.
Sharingan [Apprentice] Much like his ancestors, obtaining the Sharingan was earned through blood, at the risk of his life. He wasn't fortunate enough to unlock it through strenuous activities and training, but rather through the crucible of combat that has defined their clan for nearly seventy years. He nearly lost his life to obtain the Sharingan in the first place, as the first taste of Samurai steel to his flesh would trigger something in his body that gave him the will to press forwards and survive. His first Tomoe came a couple of years later, due in part to the manipulation of his father and grandfather to once more put him through the further threat of death at the hand of their village's enemies.
Since then, he's continued to try and hone his Sharingan, waiting until the next crucible to arrive that pushes him over the edge. Outside of the few abilities that come with the eyes naturally, he's managed to improve his stamina when using the Doujutsu by a fair amount. Useful, considering his fondness for high-intensity combat at close range tends to wear him out.
Gōken: Strong Fist [Apprentice] Not being one for the dramatics, the style of hand-to-hand practiced by Yusuke is one that embodies his desire to get straight to the point and do as much damage as possible. Be it through delivering knees to the vulnerable areas of one's body, fists and elbows to the jaw or throat, or a powerful roundhouse kick to the ribs or worse, the idea is to deliver punishing amounts of damage that render your opponent unable to fight- or preferably dead.
Yusuke's not going to be fighting toe-to-toe with any taijutsu specialists yet, but he's got solid enough footwork to keep up on his feet, and eyes-to-fist coordination that can deliver a well-placed fist to an overconfident opponent's throat. Visually he's nothing to marvel at either, as he lacks the finesse Taijutsu specialists have in favor of what keeps him on his feet. If it weren't for the fluidity that can be seen in some of his movements, it would be hard to assume he was nothing more than a streetfighter at best.
Bukijutsu [Apprentice] Blades aren't anything he's special at, but at the very least he knows his way around a Kunai. Not one to fight with swords -- as he believes they're too cumbersome -- he instead chooses to fight with Kunai when his fists aren't enough, or he feels like switching things up. He's about average, not excelling in anything particular. Outside of his limited capability to use them in melee, occasionally he'll be flashy and show off his only other talent with the blades; redirection. A simple concept really, and therefore right up his alley. He'll throw one kunai and redirect it by throwing another at it and hitting the sweet spot on the blade or handle. It's a recently acquired skill, and much more effective as a parlor trick than a reliable skill in battle.
Stealth [Apprentice] Stealth is probably the one skill that he's done the bare minimum to train. He can comfortably blend into a crowded area, and tail someone well enough to get immediately caught, but he's no shadow in comparison to his peers or otherwise. Much work is needed, as the past couple of years involved much combat in the open, limiting the need to maintain stealth.
