The glares… The not so subtle expressions of disgust The hardly whispered slurs
The villagers never failed to disparage, Yoshitsune wasn't even open for ten minutes before it had begun. He couldn't understand how he was a scourge, bane of society and they were the only ones vomiting slurs. Luckily, Yoshitsune had grown a sturdy interior over the years and the passersby's insults weren't necessarily original. In the past it didn't matter what was said or who had said it, the remarks had always gotten the best of him. This particular time however, their feeble attempts did not warrant a reaction, robbing them of the satisfaction they so eagerly wanted.
"Grrr arf ARF…Blarf hmm Blarf gggrr" the boy barked at the group of villagers who had decided to try and make a mockery out of him. If anyone was going to make him the butt of a joke it would be himself. Several villagers upped their pace so as to not make eye contact, meanwhile the people he barked at tried to quickly distance themselves in fear of becoming a pariah. Just like that, Yoshitsune had started to clear the public park of its patrons, which was a feat in itself due this particular park being one of the most visited.
Not that Yoshitsune would know of this fact as he only ventures down from the mountains for official shinobi business and when running errands for Onibaba-san. If the chunin had paid more attention to the entrance of the public park, he would have stopped longer to view the statue of its benefactor. There was a plaque detailing the great contributions of the Ametsuchi family. The park itself was built to commemorate the continued mutual relationship between the Ametsuchi and Otogakure. Instead, Yoshi simply glanced at the figure before moving on to his devious plans. Then he saw her approach him… a young woman around his age if not a couple years older, walking towards him with her eyes brimming with nothing short of opprobrium.
Everyone but the woman quickly exited the park making her stand out amongst the disgruntled villagers. Although, even if she had decided to leave as well, Yoshi would have noticed her due the expensive looking clothes she wore and the fact that she looked very familiar. Not realizing that she resembled the statue at the entrance of the park. The number of people quickly dwindled until only the woman, a couple of straggling villagers and Yoshitsune were still in the public park. She would now be able to clearly see Yoshitsune's trademark blue hair and the price of what he was selling. A price that was purposefully set to an outrageous number.
"Whose Jest??" He asked genuinely, pausing so the women could explain. Of course the boy didn't know the definition of the word jest and no he wasn't joking but did have ulterior motives behind the unusual product being sold. "That's my entire sales pitch, how many people can say they have touched a hell spawn? Let alone hug one. It practically sells itself. Oh and it's a great conversation starter" the young man replied to her question. Yoshi's expression changed several times, from puzzled to eureka and then back to puzzled as he tried to place when and where he had first met her. As he still couldn't place the familiarity.
"Pfft I bet it's pretty cool being an experiment but no I'm a shinobi of the Hidden sound" he said ignoring her offer to have him work in the mines. Before she could demand more answers Yoshi tried his luck at getting some answers out of her. With luck he just might be able to convince her to buy one of his hugs.
"What about you princess? Why are you slummin' in the city in your fancy clothes? You searchin' for an urchin who can give you ideals?
When you do something stupid it normally costs you.
Believe it or not, there were some perks that came with being a pariah in Otogakure. For example, Yoshitsune never found himself lacking people to test his skills against. More often than not Yoshi only had to venture into the village, linger around the training grounds and usually a pack of affluent young shinobi would recognize his vibrant blue hair. Snickering to himself the blue hair'd chunin wondered who would take his bait today? It had been several weeks since he got into some diablerie, as the gossiping villagers called it. If he were lucky, then he'd even get a chance to use today's horse-play as a good workout. The chunin wasn't always this resourceful either, in the beginning of his shinobi career these situations would get the best of him. There wasn't a day that passed in the academy where he wasn't bullied, mentally or physically.
When he became a genin this had all changed….
With Sayuri's help, Yoshi began to look at the bright side of nearly everything. His treatment by his peers wasn't an exception to this either. He could vividly remember the day he had turned the tides on his tormentors, turning that illogical fear into a weapon of his own. Yoshitsune laughed as the memory played back in his mind. The children who had bullied him that day found out first hand why the adults called him mother Onibaba and Yoshitsune, Oniwaka. Some of the twerps were shocked, others were terrified, however the main culprits were downright livid. How dare he even think to raise his first to them?
To be honest, Yoshitsune thought the same thing: what had gotten into him that forced him to fight back? At the time the boy couldn't answer that question… he usually just let them get their fill of violence and they would leave. However this time was different, instead of him just taking the assault, he had fought back, giving one of the children a bloody nose. Although he didn't attribute his actions to Sayuri then, years later he'd realize that day was the day he had met Sayuri. It's safe to say the girl brought out the best… or worst in him and because of that…
Well he ended up being 'jumped' by several other genin….
Since then… Yoshitsune has become a pain in the ass for most of his peers and today would not be any different. Finding a nice spot within one of Otogakure's public parks, the mischievous Oniwaka set up a booth similar to a Lemonade stand. However, Oniwaka wasn't selling lemonade, instead the boy was selling hugs… that's right… hugs. Hopefully, it would stir up some thoughts or feelings within those who saw the stand. After all, Who would want to hug the demon child of Otogakure? And why did he have the audacity to think they would?
"Hugs here!! Is your day feeling bad? Does your dango taste like plastic? Well look no further, come get a comforting hug from yours truly"
Bullies wanted!!! This could become the beginning of a great rivalry plot.
Otogakure… a melting pot of various backgrounds and cultures. Some hailed from the once vibrant and strong, hidden leaf village others from the smaller nations whose even smaller hidden villages who once called owed allegiance to the hidden leaf. Yoshitsune wasn't among either group, he was born in… or at least around Otogakure. He was truly a native of these lands… yet his peers often felt and thought otherwise.
Toki, Yoshitsune's mother, had sent him to the village for supplies for the next couple of weeks. He absolutely dreaded going to the village alone, which wasn't because of how he was treated. More so, it seemed that trouble usually found him when he did. Still, not wanting to face the wrath of his mother. So, he'd venture down from their cosy home nestled in the mountains north of Otogakure. It always took him longer than usual to reach the village as he'd get sidetracked several times along the way.
Before reaching the village, he'd make a beeline to Sayuri's home. He figured that if he had to suffer the ominous glares, and creepy whispers of the villagers, then she should too. Besides, she was his only friend and he really enjoyed her company even if people were weirded out about them hanging. As he walked he poked his hand into his pockets to make sure the list his mother had given him was still there. "Hehehe didn't lose it this time" he said to himself, eventually walking up to Sayuri's front door.
Knocking on the door, the blue haired boy couldn't help but smile, the longer he waited for someone to answer the door the bigger the smile had become. No matter what the two of them were doing it always turned into an adventure and it just so happened Sayuri was the best person to go on an adventure with.
"Moshi Moshi!!! Sayuri!! Come on let's go to the village!!!" He said not able to hide his excitement… as if they were doing more than just running errands.
Oniwaka no Otogakure | Demon child of the Hidden Sound-
Honor. Courage. Chivalry. The marks of a true shinobi.
By his own admission Minamoto Yoshitsune has none of these things. He wasn't like other Chunin, or a least he thought... Although he did hail from a shinobi clan, his wasn't one of the more famous clans and Yoshitsune surely wasn't some shinobi prodigy. Despite becoming a chunin he had not done anything moderately resembling the prodigal shinobi. Rather than being an upstanding citizen and shinobi of Otogakure, Yoshitsune has always been the anarchist, the Charlatan, spieler, and harlot; a young man seeking nothing more than self-gratification.
For as long as he could remember Yoshitsune otherwise known as Oniwaka, has had one goal: to not become a casualty in their, the Shinobi's, near-daily battles for justice. And for the last seventeen years, he's managed to do just that. During his genin yearsOniwaka was more concerned with providing for his family and nothing more. However, deep down, suppressed by the prejudice of his Otogakurian brethren, Yoshitsune had his own aspirations. He wanted to leave his mark in the world, in order to not only be remembered once his time was over but to elevate his family's status and truly be acknowledged by his peers. How he'd achieved such ascendancy wasn't important, to Yoshitsune he'd just as much prefer to become Infamous as he would be famous. Such thoughts were merely dreams at first, dreams that were inconceivable due to his heritage and the disdain from the public. He convinced himself that he'd always be a background citizen, a nobody, one of the swarms of faceless canon fodder who were destined to simply follow the status quo.
That was until he met Akiyama Sayuri… a fellow genin, now chunin, kunoichi who became the only person to see him for who he truly was. Which isn't to say she denied him being Oniwaka Onibaba's demon child; rather she encouraged him to be truly himself. If he was indeed an Oni then he should be the best or worst Oni he could possibly become. Sayuri's disregard and lack of fear towards his reputation allowed Yoshitsune to love himself for the first time in his life. Justlike that, as if it were divine or in Yoshitsune's case, accursed intervention, his entire “cannon fodder” Ideology fell apart.
By the time he had become chunin Yoshitsune himself was forced into the foreground of a life that he never thought he'd be part of—one that challenged everything he thought he knew about himself and the world around him.
Cursed Child of Onibaba -
With the awakening of his kekkei genkai, Yoshitsune would finally understand how the prejudices surrounding his family had begun. Minamoto Toki, Yoshitsune's mother, inherited the Kekkei Genkai known simply as Oni's Curse. She arrived in Otogakure years before the birth of her children and decided to settle down. Toki was a former shinobi who had given up the life of combat in order to live a solitary life within the neighboring mountains. Unfortunately, Toki would be taken advantage of by a nobleman, one of Otogakure's affluent men whose status as one of the upper echelon, made him not only arrogant but depraved as well. This would go on for several months until Toki in fear of her life, unleashed her kekkei genkai in a desperate yet successful attempt to end the unwanted affections.
This event would mar not only herself but her offspring in hellish rumors. Leaving her unwanted suitor alive would haunt her family for the rest of their lives as the man returned to Otogakure to spread rumors which eventually turned into prejudice by her peers. As a result Minamoto Toki became known as Onibaba; the demon hag of the Otogakure. Time went on and Toki gave birth to her first child, Minamoto Yoshitsune , having conceived him with the late nobleman. Despite the events surrounding his conception, Toki loved her son and made sure that he would not become like his father; despite their bohemian way of life. Unfortunately, the Oni's curse would be passed on to her children. Many rumors and fearful stories were created, ascribing the attributes of actual Oni to her brood; with most believing Yoshitsune and his siblings to be monster children with wild appearances and an unnatural tenacity for violence. Eventually each child of Onibaba would be given a moniker fathomed from society's ignorance, Yoshitsune earning the moniker Oniwaka or Demon child.
Seraphic Monstrosity -
Yoshitsune's personality eventually reinforced the public's views of him. He developed a dubious persona and a habit of causing collateral damage, usually appearing oblivious to his surroundings. He ignores people on a whim (or accidentally), interrupts without a second thought, is insensitive with those he doesn't know and even more so with those he does. Yoshitsune has trouble seeing social norms or the collateral damage he causes around him. For instance, he might decide to jump straight through a wall or use random objects like a door or chair as a weapon, rather than use his own tools.
Not only this but due to being lauded as an Oni for much of his childhood he never shows remorse for any of the damage he's caused. Yoshitsune's lineage coupled with his own personality has distorted the public's view of him even more. The gossip he's accrued by his own hands and his parentage had consequences. People within the world conform to the specifications of the ignorant and prejudiced rumors. Thus most natives of Otogakure treats him as a monster and all around villain; regardless of his actions
Schism Personified -
Yoshitsune commonly improvises or takes actions in a way that's entirely different than normally acceptable. In fact Yoshitsune's thought process can be considered alien to other people. This trait of his makes him the party animal, the swindler and that one guy who always takes off his clothes. Yoshitsune tends to ignores restrictions, challenges traditions or otherwise push the boundaries of civility and order. It should be noted that he doesn't intentionally disrupt the laws of the land; as he prides himself on being an Otogakure Shinobi. That said often tries to do what's right just the way he goes about it is usually wrong. To most people, Yoshitsune seems to be unpredictable, however he is far from such and isn't as random, impulsive or unprepared as everyone might think. Rather his behavior is a direct result of him embracing the public's views and being encouraged to be himself by Sayuri.
The Guardian -
Because of his birth and parentage, Yoshitsune dreams of being acknowledged by Otogakure and it's citizen. Despite how he's treated by others Yoshitsune understand that people fear what they don't know. Having said that, anyone that befriends him and gets to know the real Yoshitsune; will see that his loyalty is unbreakable. He is overbearingly protective of those that becomes his friend due to the fact the he's only ever had one person to call as such, Sayuri. He will always fight alongside his those he care about and will protect them whether they are Right or Wrong. In addition, Yoshitsune is honest to fault, and incredibly straight forward. The Sohei will always refuse to lie about who he is, what his objective is and even his friends' personal secrets. His most odd trait in this regard is when a lie will save him a lot of trouble, he’d still tell the truth. Albeit this part of his personality isn't purposeful and Yoshitsune does so unconsciously.

Proficiencies
Oni Heritage [unranked]
Not every oni unlocks the capabilities of their physiology, there are certain emotional motivations and stressors as well as physical training needed for the oni's unique chakra signature to be released. In Yoshitsune's case, living within the mountainous regions north of Otogakure provided him with a physically, although not formally(at least before becoming a shinobi) trained body to withstand his Kekkei Genkai, while the emotional and mental stress caused by how his peers view his family were enough to unlock the Oni's unique chakra signature; which in turn fundamentally altered his physiology.
Like others born with the oni's curse, Yoshitsune was born with small bumps on his forehead, over time these small bumps eventually hardened, becoming sharp horns by the time he gained the rank of chunin. Additionally, Yoshitsune has always held an unnaturally high degree of strength for his age. His Oni's curse heritage doesn't just affect his physiology as it has given the young shinobi a love for eating meat over anything else. Lastly, Yoshitsune's altered chakra signature when sensed by other shinobi is unlike that of most human and could cause him to be mistaken for something or someone that isn't human. Such an unique and dense chakra makes Yoshitsune a beacon for even rookie sensor shinobi. Because of it's uniqueness and potency, he simply becomes a beacon for sensors and trackers. So much so that even those without any such skills will notice this aura within his general area. That said his Kekkei Genkai
Blood of the Oni [Apprentice]
When actively under the influence of his Kekkei Genkai, Yoshitsune's body changes physically. His eyes gain a glowing cross or cross-hairs that run to the edge of his black irises. His hair grows longer, becoming wild spikes and it's color darkens dramatically, changing from his usual vibrant blue to a nearly black, brown color. The small horns on his forehead that are usually hidden by tufts of blue hair, protrude from his skull and fuses together forming a bone-like crown around his head.
These physical changes are a result of his Kekkei Genkai, the oni's curse, which alters his Chakra signature and causes his body to produce special enzymes that increases strength and density of his musculature. The increase in muscle density improves his strength at the cost of his speed due to an increase in weight. As his body replaces fat with muscle it sacrifices his ability to swim, making it difficult to stay afloat in calm waters. (Note: this is Yoshitsune's Strength enchantment ability of Oni's Curse)
His current prowess with his kekkei genkai is such that Yoshitsune's body, more specifically his musculature and bones are denser to the point that his durability is heightened as well. While he can still be injured, maimed or even killed, trying to do so is more difficult than it would be normally. His bones have undergone a similar increase in density as well, with him gaining an increased resistance to external tension and pressure allowing him to resist sustaining injuries from certain attacks such as blunt forces. (Note: this is Yoshitsune's Durability Enhancement via Oni's Curse.)
Taijutsu [Apprentice]
Without using the Oni's Curse, Yoshitsune's Taijutsu prowess is quite notable for his rank. He has penchant for striking styles of Taijutsu versus throws or submission hold, and has incorporated several striking jutsu into his repertoire in order to completely overwhelm his opponent. Yoshitsune's personal style of using Taijutsu is a unique mixture of improvising and the boons awarded by his Kekkei Genkai. Having said that Yoshitsune doesn't utilize speed as seen with other practitioners. In fact Yoshitsune is noticeably slower when compared to others of his caliber, however he makes up for this with the sheer force he can exert and attacks he can withstand (which isn't anything to be considered prodigious). Although he has yet to perfect a singular Taijutsu style, Yoshitsune has incorporated a couple of techniques from various styles in his arsenal, mostly mixing and matching strikes that could benefit from his altered physiology. That said when using his actively using Kekkei Genkai, his strikes dish out more force than when compared to others.
Bojutsu [Apprentice]
Minamoto Toki, his mother, introduced Yoshitsune to the Shakujō; a ringed stave-like weapon used via Bojutsu. Toki chose the Shakujo as it was a weapon that was also used for prayer. Because Yoshitsune had inherited her Kekkei Genkai, she felt as though the boy would need nothing short of divine protection. That said, in an attempt to contain Yoshitsune's more questionable actions, Toki would give him a Shakujō staff(which wasn't special in any way yet signified divinity due to being used as a prayer tool). He'd go on to name his first Shakujo and every one after that regardless of it's unique or mundane qualities, Ama no Murakumo, Gathering Clouds of Heaven. Lastly, Yoshitsune is fairly skilled at using the Shakujo. With his current Bojutsu prowess and physical strength Yoshitsune is capable of dealing painful strikes to his opponents. Like all staff or Bo weapons Yoshitsune basically uses the weapon to bludgeon his targets.
Stealth[Apprentice]
Yoshitsune’s prowess in stealth can be considered a contradictory. In a sense, he has gained a fair amount of skill for his age and rank, however at the same time he wouldn't be able to obscure his chakra signature from even genin ranked sensors. Raised in the wilds north of Otogakure, having to survive within the mountainous lands his family called home awarded Yoshi instincts akin to that of a predatory creature. Although it’s not as pounced as actual predators, Yoshi has gained a predator-like awareness of his general environment. which in turn makes him fairly comfortable when outside the village, on missions or training within the surrounding forest. It allows him to notice certain things, objects, people and wildlife in his general vacinity as well, which in turn enables Yoshitsune a chance to formulate his next course of action, which is geared towards offense, pursuit and simple location awareness to avoid being snuck up on. Because this is done with instinct, he often abandons logic for pure instinct, generally making illogical moves and decisions.
However, the same can't be said when it comes to concealing his own presence. On the opposite end of the stealth spectrum, Yoshitsune’s prowess fall by the wayside. Due to his own heritage, which endowed him with a unique chakra signature, Yoshitsune is nearly if not completely incapable of obscuring his presence. It should be noted that this is simply the tip of the iceberg. Regarding his ability to avoid detection, escape enemies in pursuit or simply concealing his presence; his personality is his biggest flaw.
With his ingrained predilections towards collateral damage and inopportune honesty attempts at stealth or subterfuge are abysmal. That said, if given enough time Yoshi would eventually out himself either on purpose or unconsciously. Too say Yoshitsune is noticeable or easy to find is an understatement. The bright blue tufts of hair atop his head is a dead highway, causing him to stand out when in a crowd. Although he hasn’t accomplished any noteworthy feat save for being promoted to chunin, natives of Otogakure or anyone with at least general information on him would be able to recognize him as Oniwaka, Onibaba’s demon spawn.
