Not much is known about Shizuka’s past, except that her surname wasn’t always Amemiya. She had found herself in Amegakure from as long as she could remember, which was when she was ten years old. Anything that happened before that seemed to be lost forever, having no recollection nor memory of her early childhood. To this day, it still bothers her that she can’t remember the details, especially since she had found out after becoming a shinobi that her parents were not really her birth parents. If the people she had spent the last eight years with were not her real family, what happened to those who had brought her to the world?
Shizuka was born in a small town in Yuki no Kuni, an otherwise barren land that saw more snow than anything else all year around. Her parents had been shinobi, her mother an iryo-nin and her father a hunter-nin. That was everything she knew about her past life, and any mention of her childhood was met with hesitations from her adopted parents. For all the right reasons, perhaps, as she will come to learn later that there was much more to what she knew about her birth parents. For now, though, she would continue to live in Ame, trying to prove her worth as a shinobi to her village, its people and her family.
She is distant and cold, a girl of few words. It’s not that she lacked compassion or that she wasn’t kind. It was simply a part of personality she would rather not display often. Those who were close to her knew that she was a lot friendlier and empathetic than she seemed on the exterior. But she saw her kind personality something like a weakness, something that could be taken advantage of if she wasn’t careful. Shizuka is cautious, especially when it came to interacting with people, holding others at arm’s length by default.
Her demeanor calm and collected, she rarely loses her cool under any circumstance, be it fear or anger. As a result, people often comment that she can seem rather insensitive. Although she is not quick to act, her critical and logical thinking skills are sharp, analyzing and observing the situation when it happens and very rarely makes a move to do something unless she is at least somewhat sure that it would be of help instead of a hinderance. But there is one exception, and that is in the case of romance. Not a hopeless romantic by any means, she believes that love for another person can make even the most rational of people irrational and if she falls in love, she can become slightly blind-sighted, biased and too trusting.
Taijutsu [Apprentice]
Close combat is something Shizuka enjoys, a little too much at times. When forced to fight someone, she prefers to get up close and personal. As a result, she has trained in Taijutsu from the academy, knowing that it was one of the most direct ways to deliver fast blows to an opponent. She prides herself on being quite agile, preferring to use her feet more than her hands when she uses Taijutsu. Because of her innate coordination issues though, she hopes to one day be able to use her entire body to its full potential to fight, a feat that would require her to fight a lot more often to achieve.
Tessenjutsu [Apprentice]
Whereas most of her friends have taken a fancy in swords as their primary weapon of choice, Shizuka prefers the fan. A delicate and yet lethal weapon, fans had always been a symbol of who she was; delicate and pretty on the outside but with a lot of hidden potential on the inside. She can use fans with both hands, either using two fans or switching hands halfway. Capable of slashing, cutting and protecting herself, her next goal is to see if she can channel an elemental, possibly using jutsu with her fan.
Stealth [Apprentice]
She loves to use camouflage, especially among large crowds of people. She usually wears a light blue wig of some sort and changes her eye color, the simplest way to change her appearance, especially while on missions. In terms of being sneaky though, she still has a lot to learn, even though Shizuka has recently taken a fancy to following people she finds interesting. In no way is she a stalker, but she wants to train herself to be stealthier in case such skills are called upon in combat or during missions. Recently, she has been trying to master the art of tiptoeing.
Fuuton [Apprentice]
Perhaps not a surprise to anyone who knows her, fuuton is her primary chakra nature, the element that she born with. Since she learned of this, she has been practicing, not only using her chakra to make wind bullets but also channeling fuuton chakra into her war fans, with very little success. She hopes to find a mentor or a teacher who would help her develop her skills in this area.
Hyoton [Dormant]
Unknown to Shizuka is that she was born with one more element, an advanced release that was passed down from her father. At the moment, she has yet to unlock Hyoton, seeing as she has only been able to use fuuton, half of what makes up the ice release.

- Kaze no Mai [Wind’s Dance]
The name of her weapon, this war fan is made of complete metal, with sharp metal ridges that are capable of not only delivering deep cuts if connected to flesh, but also making a perfect defense weapon against other weapons. A light blue tassel with a white snowflake hangs from the handle of the fan. It is a small-sized weapon, opened with a flick of her wrist. - Yuki no Mae [Dance of the Snow]
The exact replica of Kaze no Mae, this is the second part of her twin weapon. The metal is coated in white, and has the same properties as her other fan. The only difference is that there is no tassel nor snowflake ornament. Shizuka often uses this fan with her right hand, even though she can wield it with her left if need be.
