Her arms wrapped around the bat before she hit the opposite wall sliding to the floor carefully covering the bat's mouth with her metal clad hand as she cooed softly to help calm it before she moved her hand from its mouth.
"I don't want to hurt you, where did he go?" She asked softly while calmly setting the bat free but ready to retaliate if it chose poorly. While interacting she would move over to pick up the scroll from the floor, stopping if the bat warned her but she made no hostile move towards it, quietly looking over the scroll or leaving it be if warned. Assuming the bat stayed she gave it her full attention having a stronger bond of kinship with animals than people as her ears and tail casually flick. "You don't have to stay here if you want to leave."
However if the bat chose to attack her after she had offered it solace she would be fine with tearing into it with her claws.

The edge of the city came flush with buildings, narrow alleyways guiding me into the guts of conflict. A wipe on the edge of my sleeve had cleaned my blade, but the smell of rotting dirt clung heavily in turn. Hairs standing on the back of my neck as the smell of smoke overtook my nostrils, the gap widened between myself and the soldiers as dirt turned to cobblestone.
Cacophony continued, struggling to hear my own panic as I sidled along the wall of the alleyway. Barking commands, cries of pain, the crackle of heat, audible as it brushed against my skin. My gaze had shifted upwards, wary of the multitude of flying things - only to be responded to with ire.
A darting shadow, details difficult to parse as the glimmer of steel was sent downwards. Ducking forward, a push against the ground with a roll would hopefully dodge the attack, if not mitigate it to somewhere less dangerous. A hand pushed up, catching a breath. Dammit, I'm already running on fumes. A thought hid behind the taste of adrenaline, muscle fatigue snapping at my heels.
A clamor as I jostled back to a standing position, the clanking of my iai-tachi audible as I entered the building to my left, ripping through a paper-lined door with a tackle. In the midst of the chaos, in the fear of conflict, a hazy memory of the 'mission' came swimming to the surface, pushed down with the heavy hand of anger.
"If I'm going to die here, I'm going to take that motherfucker out." a hushed tone, narrow eyes looking for a way to the roof.
[attr="class","zacwords"]On any other occasion, the passing of such natural beauty would be pondered, regarded, to the point he’d cease any previous engagements in order gaze in wonder. However, this was no time to admire the majestic nature of the cherry blossom tree. Even in its sad, lonely state, most of its beauty shed due to the cold, biting weather, it still silently commanded a high level of respect. He hoped that in his own old age, he too could stand tall and proud, withered yet nonetheless with an eternal sense of reverence and favorability among his kin. I must make it out of here in one piece first... Yet those hopes could easily be dashed if he suffered a premature death, especially at the hands of the warring creatures around them. No sir; that simply will not due. [break][break]
And so, as he and a select band of elite warriors left his muse behind in order to proceed onward towards the shrine ahead, his focus would realign with the task at hand. Anotsu lead the way, a bit of stealth now embraced as they shifted away from the war-torn stage that was outside, and into the more preserved, quiet, dimly lit, and well-secluded building. Once inside, a black wave engulfed his optics. Several rugs and a mess of paperwork existed before the statue of a wooden cat, its façade forever frozen in a rather curious expression. And while some semblance of fading light dared peer its way through the crystalline crisscross design of the windows, darkness was the ruler of this land for the most part. I can barely see... This would heighten the potential for peril in the eyes of the medic, and so, as they continued to slink about quietly, an extra level of awareness was put forth to prevent any potential misfortune. [break][break]
The irony in his timing was...coincidental, at best. Then again, he was never one to indulge in such pleasantries. That kind of mentality was best suited for people who understood not the perils of life and its dark truths. Chinetsu was not one of them. As such, he knew that when the deafening sound of a bell crashed through the surprising silence the shrine held – the shock being it retained its muteness despite the war outside, as well as the creature that had crashed above moments before their ingress – there was no concurrency. Something’s coming...!!! Timed perfectly with the ring of the first bell, chakra surged through his body, and while no nature had been chosen yet, he was nonetheless ready to convert the energy into the beacon of his safety at a moment’s notice. [break][break]
“Oh no!” a voice screeched as Junko bolted across the room towards the bell. A grotesque pig nosed bat the size of a small child had a hold of the rope that made the bell ring, and it quickly let go and began fluttering upwards to try to get away from her

A shrill exclamation from an unknown, foreign agent joined into the chorus, and while Chinetsu’s position meant the darkness hid the culprit’s full identity from his struggling eyes, he took some form of comfort in knowing a nearby ally – whose incursion into the building was unique and singular, but nonetheless effective – was close enough to employ some change of her own. Her entry came from the hole made above by their main target it seemed, affording her a unique angle to approach the culprit behind the bell ringing. But the medic would soon have his hands full with problems of his own. That sound...!!! As he had moved in formation with Anotsu, he stood somewhat close during his explosive discovery. Fortunately for the medic, not only had his chakra already been ready for use as a reaction to the initial ringing of the bell, but the all too familiar triggering of what appeared to be some form of an explosive note derivative would hopefully grant him a much-needed reprieve from the violence. “MOVE!!!” [break]
Anotsu , Kikuyu, and Chinetsu had entered and made their way up the stairs towards the sound of the chiming bell. When the fearless Jounin reached down to pick up the scroll in the dark, there was a sound of a fuse lighting and a sudden flash followed by a boom.
[break]
Whether his sudden warning would reach the ears of his ally was irrelevant, as the only priority right now was avoiding damage. With his chosen chakra path now raging with energy, Chinetsu would move with cold blooded instinct, Shunshin making him appear to seemingly disappear from their initial spot. He would not have to travel far, but nonetheless his desired destination was in the form of a retreat, away from the explosion and hopefully into safety's warm embrace. He would do this as Junko made her approach, and hopefully, while Anotsu executed his own defense. Had they suffered any injuries, Chinetsu’s raging chakra could instantly become medically inclined. Then again, before he was thinking of healing anyone, it was imperative this blast be survived. [break][break]
Gong! The bell tolled once more. I was peering across the room with the intensity of a midday sunray, but the darkness lay too thick. A tension loomed, like a partner to the shadow. But then the muted thud of footsteps crept up from the stairwell, bursting the tension and causing me to jump, startled.
My katana jerked into defense, but it was only another shinobi, and then two. One looked to fiddle with the scrolls strewn across the floor. The feeling of impending danger began to evaporate, so I stepped from the deepest dark of the corner, making my presence known; surely the thing would have attac—Tssss! A rattlesnake sound emitted from the man’s hand. Wait, is that a... It was too late to retreat—a sudden light flashed, illuminating the room.
And then—Whapp!!! I cowered from the blast reflexively, curling in the opposite direction, head down, two slivers of steel guarding my exposed side.
It was over in an instant. The pain bit at me like a swarm of bee stings, pricking my left lower-back and... rear end. “Youch!!” I yelped. My katana, proximity, and reflexes had reduced my profile, saving me from the brunt of the shrapnel, but the cluster that landed... hurted. I leaned my left blade on my leg, drifting my hand over my left butt-cheek, wincing as my fingers delicately caressed my torn kimono and felt the warm wetness of fresh blood.
A fury fumed within me like a steam train in the heat.
I sheathed both of my katana and hushedly stomped toward the two men, fire-eyed. A jolt of pain shot up my left side. “Ooph!” I clutched my bloody buttocks. “The... the hell was that?!” I whispered vehemently. “My ass! Susanoo’s-sake! My beautiful, soft, un-blemished ass—ravaged! Look!” I hissed, turning so that the clawed flesh showed through ripped cloth.
My chest heaved up and down as I caught my breath before turning back around, letting the initial anger dissipate from my body like smoke from a stamped-out fire. I sighed as I beheld them both. “Er, you two okay?” I relented, my tone sympathetic as I began to fully process what occurred. A sudden pang of worry stabbed at my gut, like I was forgetting something, but I was too distracted by the throbbing pain to pay it much attention.
