Spirit Sensing [Unranked]
Awasaru was born with such a heightened sensitivity to the spiritual that he can he feel spirits (this extends to spiritual energy). After being sent off by his parents to train with a group of ninja monks, this ability became properly refined: within Awasaru's immediate combat distance (about 15 yards) he can feel the presence of any being that has a spirit and can also distinguish one from presence from another. Changes in a spiritual state can also be felt, which amounts to Awasaru being an empath. However, the ability can be fooled by Awasaru's emotions. For example, while he may get the sense that something isn't right with someone trying to exploit him, he won't receive any certain feeling about it so long as the person is being nice.
Spirit Kata [Taijutsu | Rookie]
Spirit Kata uses a constant expense of chakra to expand Awasaru's spirit slightly beyond his body. The result is an invisible Aura that traces the full length of his body, acting as a 6 inch (all around) extension of his body, which causes attacks that would normally miss to successfully land (like Frog Kata). It increases the power behind his physical maneuvers through a poltergeist-like effect, but this increase depends on his rank in the ability. At Rookie, the aura is weak and unstable, so the strength of his attacks increases by only 2 weight classes, and he is a Featherweight.
One thing that Awasaru has yet to notice about this style of fighting is that extending his spirit as an aura causes it to become a bridge between his will and his actions, which increases his reaction time (this is the sole defensive benefit of the aura). However, the combat style has always been intimately based on this trait. It is quite conservative when it comes to movement, the preference being to strike fast and hard with small movements like jabs and eastern straight punches / palm strikes, and evading and counterattacking "at the last moment possible moment" on defense. It requires a moderate amount of concentration in order to remain properly in sync with his spirit.
Spirit Techniques [Non-Elemental | Rookie]
These techniques were originally created by Awasaru to be based on experiences like OBEs, NDEs, and ESP. When he first created them, his only ability was Astral Projection — he uses chakra to willingly cause an OBE, and then he can travel as a spirit to observe things. As a spirit, he is undetectable by most things, and can pass through material objects. As is the case with OBE reports, his memory is better in this form, and everything seems more real, and so he has incredibly accurate recall of what he received when he returns to his body. He is very fast moving, but at Rookie, he has no real sense of how to control himself. He has to set a very particular goal for his spirit in act desirably, but it is also subject to "skipping" scenes from one place to another. Somewhat of a consequence of this ability is that Awasaru will experience OBEs on accident while sleeping.
Shurikenjutsu [Rookie]
Awasaru has taken a lot of time off from Shurikenjutsu. He is a decent thrower, though, and does a good job hitting targets that aren't moving.
Stealth [Rookie]
Awasaru's stealth is a natural consequence of his training with the ninja monks. Learning how to focus helped him learn to how to quiet steps, and so he does well enough for himself in that regard.
