Nothing about Jin's time starting off in the Academy was a breeze in the part. He was defiant and unnaturally unhappy being away from home. Jin felt as though his life was being torn from him. His love for his siblings at this point had become an obsession and a focus of worrisome proportions. To help Jin focus, he was not permitted to visit his siblings during the school year. His time at the Academy distracted him and over time it taught him that what he wanted wasn't always the best thing. Jin started off seeing it as a punishment, but his mind quickly molded to make the Academy more of a tool. It would make him stronger and more able to protect his brothers and sisters. This focus gave him purpose and that purpose in turn made him stronger. For most this wouldn't seem like much, but Jin's young age and inability to comprehend the situation fully made the emotions real to him. In Jin's mind, he had lost everything.
Jin was an incredibly promising student. He picked up on nearly everything quickly, though his interests seemed to reside mostly in Taijutsu and Genjutsu. He was a bright mind in a world of seemingly endless knowledge and he had a thirst of unreasonable depth. The Uchiha boy spent most of the last two years in almost complete solitude outside of the Academy. He flew through books from the library and sought out more professional training from high-ranking members of the Uchiha clan. A boy by the name of Harukei agreed to take the boy under his wing. A master in his own right, Harukei was not a warm or emotional boy. Jin didn't want that, either. He wanted someone to teach him how cold the world really was. He didn't want surprises. Jin's new training regimen was harsh. Harukei was harsh. His new mentor put him through very intense and apathetic training that most wouldn't recommend for a boy Jin's age. It did, however, prove fruitful.
As a Genin, most of Jin's missions were mundane, nothing out of the usual for a measly little Rookie Genin. Jin always wanted more. He fought for more. More responsibility, more power, more knowledge. Faster. Faster. He didn't want to stop, and there was nothing that could make him stop either. He was on a train to nowhere and he was picking up everything he could on the way.
Jin focused a lot of his attention on mastering Taijutsu and furthering his knowledge of Genjutsu at this time. His interest in Genjutsu began to greatly outweigh Taijutsu. He studied and practiced whenever he could. What started off as a means to protect his siblings had now just become a way of life for the boy. He knew nothing else and he didn't want to. The training was a hobby. Missions were his hobby. He wanted more. Faster.
As if some divine force had heard the prayers of his mother, a new force came into the boy's life that would slow down his constant need for improvement. This force came in the form of a small red bird. Akahane, as Jin grew to name her, had been injured and left alone to die. Jin was taught to nurse it back to health and even when she had fully recovered, she refused to leave the boy's side. The months it took the bird to recover taught Jin patience and empathy, something he so desperately needed in a world full of cruel Ninja. He and Akahane were inseparable. Much to Masako's disliking, Akahane didn't slow Jin down for long. After her recovering, the two made quite the duo with their seemingly innate understanding of each other. Akahane was soon incorporated in his kit, relying on her for distractions and other small favors. She was treated well and given a handful of berries from time to time for her troubles.
Akahane went with him on every mission and their bond only grew stronger. It will be put to the test as Jin prepares for his journey as a Shinobi.

Opinionated: Jin is a rather outspoken individual. He isn't afraid to open his mouth and his filter is nearly nonexistent. Some may describe him as crass, but when he says something, he means it and there's usually a logical and well-deserved reason behind his approach. His loud and unfiltered mouth often grabs him more attention than is needed, and not the good attention either.
Skeptical: As perceptive as he is, Jin has a difficult time opening up to others with more personal matters. He's an open book with less personal topics though and easily comfortable with small talk. Jin is hard to pry open, something that works well with his rank as a Shinobi.
Loyal: Despite being a hard boy to get to know, for those who have the luxury they will know nothing but undying loyalty. The boy will stand by you in any situation, so long as it's warranted. Those who have earned his trust are unlikely to lose it over something small. However, if he believes wholeheartedly that you've changed to something undeserving, he can quickly change his perspective.
Quick Witted: A boy of high intelligence, Jin comes with a knack for sarcasm and witty responses. Jin likes to have a good laugh and oftentimes those laughs come from puns and overly sarcastic replies. Add a little bit of self-deprecation and he's the perfect recipe for disaster.
Empathetic: While he might not always show it, Jin is overly empathetic. It's something he has learned as a Shinobi to be able to turn off and on. You won't get a boohoo from him while out on missions, but in the right setting he's the perfect shoulder to cry on and his ear is always available.
Stubborn: Jin is both hard and hot headed. Once he has his mind set on something, there's little that anyone can do to sway him away from his goal. He can be persuasive at times and has a very charismatic charm despite his crass ways. He will use whatever means necessary to persuade someone to his side of things so long as he believes it is the right thing.
Uchiha Heritage [Rookie]
Still young and immature in many ways, Jin has not yet displayed signs of obtaining his Sharingan. The boy mostly takes after his mother and it is unknown if he will ever even be able to fully develop his Sharingan.
Genjutsu [Rookie]
Jin's quick intellect has already begun to lead him down a path of psychological warfare. Subtle yet efficient in its use, he has the true mind of an Uchiha and has proved potential at becoming a master practitioner of Genjutsu.
Taijutsu [Rookie]
Much like every other Genin, Jin's proficiency with Genjutsu reflects only basic Academy-level skill. He is able to respond effectively with blocks and counter attack efficiently, but nothing else much so far stands out. Like others, he is still developing his own style of fighting.
Shurikenjutsu [Rookie]
A requirement of all his age, Shurikenjutsu is by far one of Jin's most used abilities. His preference for mid to far distance fighting has simply required him to find alternative ways to fight an opponent. Kunai, shuriken, and senbon are on him at all times and his aim with those three in particular is certainly on par with others his age.
Stealth [Rookie]
Jin has learned to be quick and quiet on his feet. An observant person in general, Jin knows that reconnaissance is one of the more important requirements of a shinobi. Jin's ability to hide himself well and keep his presence unknown to enemies is on par with others his age.Touken Ranbu
