Muddled memories, masked in pain and suffering, darkness surrounding every thought. No warmth, no light, no company save herself. Kanon's early years are a mess of buried memories and trauma. Born a no one in an orphanage in Otogakure, she would likely have just been any other child were it not for the two markings on her forehead that marked her as different, evil. The adults looked upon her with disdain, and though they did not once strike her, what they did instead could well have been worse. Neglect, ostracisation, the gaze of hatred and anger at something she could not understand. The other children, likewise, followed suit, and they were not shy about ignoring or bullying her. She learned quickly to fend for herself, that she could rely on nothing save for her ability to fight back against whatever they might dole out. She quickly grew to be far too physically powerful for the children, but that just landed her in trouble with the adults, forced into solitary confinement for increasingly trivial matters. She was the heir of something so vile, so evil that it was unspeakable, and she was to never influence the children negatively.
It was only a matter of time before she left the orphanage behind, striking out on her own as a street urchin barely beyond her toddler years. Her time fending off against the other children proved valuable here; though she had no skill in stealing and subterfuge, she had no issue in muscling her way into the spoils that a craftier kid had acquired. It wasn't right or wrong to her, it was just her only way to survive on streets that were incredibly hostile. She could not escape the gazes of hatred even here, and she was forced to flee from an angry group on more than one occasion.
The loneliness was still a companion, however, so omnipresent as to make it difficult to breathe at times. She had no one to turn to in her time of need, forced to curl up alone every night, not knowing if she'd be kidnapped or stolen from in her sleep. She felt nothing but pain and misery, wishing only that the hurting would stop.
But it was as if some foreign force heard her cry. One day, she fell asleep in the cold, dark streets of Otogakure, the next, she woke up in a warm bed with no recollection of how she got there. Fear gripped her heart as she heard the thumping footsteps, and she prepared for... whatever bad thing might happen to her as the person came around into the room.
If you were to ask her in that moment, Kanon would say that this was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen in her life. Her confidence in the way she carried herself, her clothes, her appearance. Most importantly, however, a kind smile occupied her face where anyone else would have a thinly-veiled look of disdain. Whatever plans Kanon had for escape were instantly disarmed by this woman, who merely sat down, not making any sudden moves or ever hinting that she would harm Kanon.
In that moment, her life changed.
Darkness was replaced with light as Kanon got to grips with her new life: she had been taken in by this lady, a brothel mistress of all things, to be taken off the street and taken care of. So many questions. Why? How? Was there some sort of catch or condition? Try as she might, however, Kanon was far too swept up in the feeling of happiness to care. She finally had a home, a place where she could feel safe and loved.
As she was given education and taught how to live, Kanon's admiration for her adoptive mother grew, and where she developed many of her own personality traits. No longer fearing for her life, Kanon's personality shone through as a determined, charismatic, mischievous but empathetic girl with a heart of gold and strong sense of justice. All of these were cultivated and encouraged, given concrete form in the way of the Will of Fire. While Kanon cared not for dogmas, she would always remember its tenets in the back of her mind.
And it was this Will that pushed her to become a kunoichi. Despite the hardship, the discrimination, she knew in her heart that it was the right thing to do, to gain the power to protect those who could not do the same.
At least, those were her thoughts initially. As Kanon trained and grew in strength and prestige, she would see Otogakure's practices, growing more and more privy to its vile deeds and experimentations. She would slowly grow to become an insubordinate and unruly kunoichi, dissatisfied with the current state of matters. She could not even join the supposed rebellion that was happening, not with the immense suspicion everyone else regarded her with.
Her frustrations turned destructive when Kanon ended up wreaking havoc in some of Otogakure's vital locations, destroying precious resources and indirectly assisting the rebellion by disrupting the then Hokage's operations. This, however, marked her as a nukenin without a shadow of doubt, and she was forced to flee the village and strike out on her own.
Years have passed, and Kanon has since adapted to this life, now known as the Wandering Oni that does as she pleases. Charming, willful, and emotional, Kanon's presence is felt wherever she goes. Who knows what she might do next?
Taijutsu [Apprentice]
To call Kanon a lumbering brute would be wrong... but to call her a graceful geisha would also be incorrect. Kanon's style is slow and deliberate, leveraging her immense body weight against her opponents in a slow dance of death and shattered bones as she strikes her opponents with incredible force. That said, this style is rather simple, with room for improvement as she grows as a kunoichi.
Kanabojutsu [Apprentice]
Kanon is never seen without her trusty, inordinately heavy kanabo. Usually hoisted on her shoulder, she wields it like its a weapon ten times lighter, having no difficulties swinging the large hunk of wood around, leveraging its range and destructive ability to oppress her foes. Like her taijutsu, however, it's a simple style of fighting that a crafty shinobi might overcome. Strength isn't everything, after all.
Stealth [Apprentice]
One wouldn't expect someone so heavy to have any skill with stealth, but Kanon is definitely able to stalk her foes when necessary, somehow masking the heavy sounds and vibrations of her footsteps. She lacks any special tactics or skills, however, and isn't immune to suddenly falling through a slightly fragile plank of wood.
Oni Heritage
The oni's blood might not awaken in all, but Kanon has seen no issue in utilising it to her advantage, gladly using its boons to make herself a threat to her foes. Intimidation alone is enough of a incentive, but the other benefits are difficult to resist for someone like her.
Oni no Chi [Apprentice]
Dense, incredible muscle and powerful movements. The thumping footfalls of an oni are unmistakable, Kanon happily making her presence known before facing the enemy. Both in power and in defence, her muscles and bones provide her with the ability to be a cut above her peers when it comes to sheer physical might.
