A once tribal people that dwelled in the mountainous peaks of the Stone, the Nikko Clan have been stalwart defenders of Iwagakure since its founding. Though a small selection of clansmen moved elsewhere after descending from the mountains. Namely to the massive dessert of the Sand (now Rain) and the lush forests of the Fire (now Sound).
Their name, Nikko, translates to sunlight and refers to the clan's ability to draw solar rays into their pores and convert them into power in a process similar to photosynthesis. Because of this, most of the Nikko are either dark or tan skin. They also have a temperature slightly higher than your average shinobi of 99°F (37.2°C) and are warm to the touch.
In their tribal days, they were avid sun worshipers and frequently made sacrifices in its name. The sun is still held in high regard by Nikko clansmen, but for most, the days of blind worship have long since passed. Living sacrifices are replaced by the phrase "Praise the sun." to show respect and thanks.
Taiyō no karada (Body of The Sun)
Requirements: Dormant slot. Second Proficiency To Unlock.
Note: All applications of Taiyō no karada increase the internal temperature of the user's body. While naturally resistant to heat, Nikko clansmen risk cooking their insides frequently and extensively using the Kekkei Genkai.
Without direct access to sunlight or burning through any stored in their cells, Taiyō no karada is rendered moot and unusable.
The Nikko clan are blessed with a unique cellular make-up that enables them to draw sunlight into their pores. When initially unlocked, they can use sunlight to provide nourishment to their bodies. They are also more resistant to heat, capable of withstanding grueling temperatures without breaking a sweat.
Reaching apprentice level entails Nikko clansmen learning to store sunlight inside their cells like a battery. At this stage, they can keep, at most, twelve hours worth of solar energy stored. That's if they're using it solely to nourish their body.
Upon hitting journeymen level, one learns to use the gathered sunlight more precisely. Channeling the sun to drastically increase muscular strength and durability. Allowing for feats of strength that many would find terrifying. Creating craters with a punch, lifting a ton with ease.
Veteran level has the Nikko clansmen now bolster their speed and strength. Able to cross battlefields quickly, and should they at least be rookie level in fire release, they can leave flaming footsteps in their wake. They can also now hold a single day's worth of sunlight.
At master level, the Nikko clansmen can now use the sunlight to heal their wounds. Depending on the severity, this can require a little or a lot, but they will never regrow an arm or missing organ. Unlike the Senju, the wound is never completely healed. When the Nikko clansmen treat the injury, it's almost similar to cauterizing it. Burning away the damage with intense heat.
The actual healing process can be painful because of this. At times, even being worse or equal to the injury itself. After healing, the user suffers anywhere from mild to severe exhaustion. In addition, their solar charge reaches two days.
Finally, at grand master, Nikko clansmen learn to harness the sunlight to directly attack. Releasing a highly condensed beam of solar energy through the eyes, mouth, or hands that can burn and ignite what it comes into contact with. They're now able to hold a maximum of three days worth of sunlight in their cells.
