About Taima
Taima is, at her core, an extremely fickle party girl. Her interests and attentions can change like her appetite or her craving for a good drink. She can go from paying rapt attention to a conversation to being distracted by a completely mundane occurrence. Because of this, she is a bit unreliable when it comes to completing certain tasks. Or...any tasks at all really. It is a mistake to give her an important job to do, as it likely won’t get done.
To say she is lazy is incorrect, however, as she carries out her duties as a kunoichi without fail. In her mind, missions and tasks are two very different things, and tasks hold little respect in her mind. She has a few key focuses, and most of them include drinking, getting high or both. Curiously enough, she also has a fondness for botany, which can possibly be ascribed to her nature as a Senju, though for the most part she only grows plants she can smoke.
While her interests change like the tides, her feelings for others are as solid as stone. Once an individual earns her loyalty, her friendship or her love, she is a steadfast ally. She believes herself to be a good judge of character, and as such will take up arms for whomever she has come to call a companion, always trusting that their actions have a good reason behind them. And if they don’t...tough love exists for a reason.
Despite her mercurial ways, Taima always displays a friendly or cheery demeanor. She appears as a warm and welcoming woman, ready to sit someone down to a cup of tea or shot of whisky. This puts others at ease, something she dearly enjoys deep down. Even if she’ll say otherwise. While she is almost always bright and bubbly outwardly, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel other emotions, they are just veiled in her smile when she does let them come to the surface.
Those who have experience with her will notice the slight difference in her features when emotion takes her. When angered, her smiles twitch at the edges, when saddened they droop and her eyes dim. All in all her face is like a neon sign, showing her truth even if she tries to smile through all hardships.
Taima is a lover, as well as a fighter, and so she is overly affectionate with others. She gives hugs, cuddles, kisses on the cheek and other displays of physical affection freely to those who are open to receiving them, and even to those who aren’t. This extends not only to people she knows, but strangers and even those she is antagonistic towards or are antagonistic towards her. She doesn’t know much about boundaries, and will often invade personal space without a care.
When intoxicated, the few subtle bits of her personality are completely wiped out. When drunk, she is a pool of emotion, showing everything she feels on her face, in her words and with her actions. While high, her unreliable nature increases so that she’s unlikely to do anything she herself doesn’t want to do. Any combination of the two can bring forth anything from an emotional wreck eating too much junk or a hyperactive busybody who can’t finish one job before starting another (and doing so poorly).
But Taima would say it’s part of her charm.
Proficiencies
Water Release [Journeyman]Taima's favored element is that of Water, her skill with it being enough to consume the water content within her own body in order to fuel her techniques, though this leaves her dehydrated more often than not. She is capable of forming her water into pressurized bullets or slicing waves for offensive use, protective shields or bubbles, or even simple gouts or mists to increase the water content in her immediate area. Taima is capable of walking on water, and is even capable of doing so with increased speed when said water houses her own chakra.
↳ Alcohol Style Taima's truest expression of mastery over Water lay in her ability to change its substance on a chemical level, converting water to alcohol and thus giving birth to her Alcohol Style. When transformed to alcohol, her Water Release techniques have the added side effect of inebriating those who imbibe the waters or even inhale their fumes, though the latter is much slower than the former. This is capable of quickly causing disorientation or intoxication with prolonged exposure.
Senju Heritage - Regeneration [Journeyman]As a Senju, Taima's body has been gifted with an enhanced regeneration. The timespan for healing is reduced almost drastically, minor wounds healing in a matter of minutes while injuries that would take months to heal resolve in a matter of weeks. The true marvel of this ability is the effect that it has had on how she metabolizes harmful substances, namely intoxicants. Taima is capable of controlling how fast she metabolizes alcohol and other such substances, allowing her to make the most use of her signature fighting style, though she is easily capable of sobering up from black-out drunk in less than five minutes.
Taijutsu [Journeyman]From her manner, many would be surprised to know that, outside of those techniques which require a command of chakra, Taima's chief specialty is Taijutsu. However, her method of utilizing body techniques is...unusual to say the least. As an avid partier, Taima has learned how to function while intoxicated, being capable of semi-clear thought and action even after drinking or smoking enough to ensure a normal person wouldn't be able to move. She has mastered a command over her body while sober that allows her, while intoxicated, to function as though she hadn't had a drop to drink.
Her true strength lay within what comes when she gives into her intoxicated state, a style that she has dubbed the
Art of Inebriation. The style revolves around Taima fighting while high or drunk, or even both, each coming with their own benefits and drawbacks. When drunk, her motions become unpredictable and nigh unstoppable, her body contorting and bending in unnatural ways to avoid attacks while her blows carry uninhibited strength. When high, her motions become quicker and her mental state unshakeable, causing her a tolerance to the mind altering effects of illusions, allowing her to act almost normally even in the fact of horrific visions.
There exists two additional states that mix the two: "greening out" which revolves around becoming drunk and then getting high, causing her to achieve a sort of clarity in her drunken state, allowing her to control her movements while maintaining their power. The second is "crossfading" which involves getting high and then becoming drunk, the inverse of greening out, which adds the unpredictability back to her movements, keeping the speed and allowing her to catch her opponents off guard.
Kenjutsu [Journeyman]While in the academy, and coming up to her position as a Jonin, it was impressed upon Taima that it was probably best to learn to wield a weapon or two, in case she came across someone she couldn't beat with what was already in her repertoire. Thus she learned the sword, though found that after developing her Art of Inebriation, her ability with her body transferred to her capability with a blade. Thus was born the
Intoxicated Edge, though unlike its parent it is only capable of being performed while Greened Out or Crossfaded, though it is much more deadly, whether due to the precise power or blinding speed that either state adds to her weaponry.
Stealth [Journeyman]An art not well suited to a drunkard, a pothead or both, Taima has never really put much stock in stealth. She does, however, have the strange natural talent of completely silent steps, no matter how intoxicated she becomes her approach makes little to no sound. Thus she can sneak up on anyone not paying extremely close attention to her approach, though anyone with equal or greater skill in this area will not have to look too hard to see her coming.
