Kaito compartmentalized the reality of the life he took, he had no time to dwell on it - and so he didn't, brushing aside the sensation and focusing on the job at hand. He was approaching the cart when his own eyes followed the eyeline of Ryota to the downed shinobi near the tree line. Kaito didn't hesitate, drawing a few smoke bombs from pouches at his hip. Kaito wound up both, throwing them in two separate spots with a single motion - one on top of the downed shinobi, the other along the path between the shinobi and the cart itself.
He acknowledged Ryota with a nod and made it clear with his eye contact his intentions, he was going in and he hoped for some support if something unexpected happened. Better to communicate as silently as impossible if possibly under observation.
Rather then rely on stealth instead Kaito relied on speed, dashing into the rapidly accumulating smoke and vanishing from sight in it's depths.
Should he make it to the Shinobi Kaito would act quickly, hoisting the injured warrior up onto his back and sprinting for the cart under the cover of smoke and hopefully away from the prying eyes of the assailants likely hidden in the tree line. If they simply fired blind into the smoke Kaito was confident in his vision, he could react fast enough to avoid any haphazardly fired arrows.
If they did not fire at all, or were not even there all the better.
The sound of his kunai striking into flesh was louder then Kaito expected, and were it not for the cacophony of battle it likely would have made him wince. Luckily for the inexperienced Genin there was no time for guilt, for Ryota was issuing commands the moment his own opponent was felled.
Kaito nodded acknowledgement to Ryota and headed toward Korogaru and her two assailants. One was still in the fight, wielding his farmers weapon with lethal intent; the other was dazed but recovering. He had no weapon left, but that did not mean he was out of the fight - Kaito meant to make sure of that. Again he closed to within sixty feet, but this time he drew out a shuriken from a pouch at his hip. As the man attempted to recover to his feet Kaito wound up, rotating his entire body into the throw and throwing down his arm like a whip. The shuriken launched forward, hurtling at blistering speed at the dazed man's head; this was likely going to be a killing blow if it landed.
Kaito had never killed before, but the adrenaline of the moment and his rigorous muscle memory did not allow any hesitation into his form. The guilt and realization would come later, now was the time for action; and Kaito was mentally strong enough to handle whatever the outcome was.
MUSIC:Drums of WarTAGS: N/A NOTES: Thanks for the invite, look forward to writing with you all.
Fires raged uncontrolled, the echoes of battle crushing the once soft melody of rural life.
Kaito had arrived at this hell not as a combatant, apart of no elite team and assuredly not expected to take part. Kaito was green, even for a Genin - he had graduated the academy only days before he was sent to Zone 0; not even enough time to become acquainted with his platoon. So it was with great apprehension that Kaito found himself on the battlefield; the circumstances of which was simple happenstance - intelligence indicated a need to reinforce the elite search and rescue team, and Kaito was a warm body wasting space in Zone 0. The Kirigakure Genin had little time to absorb his new reality, and his natural tendency to respond to all challenges with grit served him well; allowing his nerves to be suppressed and his more primal nature ignored.
The situation was tenuous, multiple instances of two vs ones and an over all slowing of the teams true goal - they were not here to kill ashigaru, they were here to save allies. Kaito stalked out from the tree line, using the cover of bodies and burning carts to get himself in a comfortable range. His target was one of the swordsmen engaged with the Otogakure swordsman. While Kaito was not truly skilled at stealth he hoped the heat of battle blinded his opponents to his approach, and in no time Kaito was within sixty feet of the pair of sword wielding ashigaru; hopefully unseen and advantageously to their right.
Kaito burst from any semblance of stealth, drawing a kunai from the spring loaded holster on his right forearm - with precision beyond his age and experience Kaito launched the weapon without hesitation at the ashigaru not actively in a duel with Ryota Sadao. The weapon flew with a dramatic spin, giving it incredible velocity and stability above the ordinary kunai throw and hopefully from a blind angle his opponent had no idea of, so focused was he on the battle with the Otogakure Chunin.
Event - Violent Sunset Zone 2: The Line - Only a few days after graduating from the Academy Kaito gets sent as an observer and hand to assist in the joint Hidden Village effort against the Imperial Ashigaru and in defense of the town of Onomichi. Circumstance sends Kaito from the safety of the rear lines into the heat of battle, assisting the Elite Search & Rescue Squad in saving injured Shinobi.
Plotter Kaito Kori is a young, Kirigakure genin in Platoon 1. A specialist in shurikenjutsu and defensive tactics Kaito is frustratingly honest, straightforward and hard working. I'm truly looking for any and all threads of all kinds, I just want to get immersed in roleplay ASAP; be it slice of life in Kirigakure to dangerous missions I'm open to any and all.
For more specific desires my goal is eventually to have Kaito become proficient in Futon and the use of a Jōhyō as well as further his talent for Shurikenjutsu; so I'd love for any training threads learning Futon, Jōhyō, or Shurikenjutsu as a whole. Things like sparring matches, hands on lessons or missions which allow him exposure and potential for growth.
Outside of the binary growth arcs I'd like Kaito to experience some hardship, in the grand scheme of the world Kaito has lived a good and comfortable life. Both his parents are alive and loving, he did well at the Academy and in general has lived a good life. I think some negative experiences would be beneficial.
Finally he could use some friends, rivals or out right enemies.

History Kaito was born to a armorer and a seamstress, simple folk whom lived their life on the straight and narrow; working hard while maintaining patriotism for their archipelago home. As a child Kaito spent most of his time playing sports with local children, ignorant of the war his nation was in and blissful; his family confident even defeat would not drastically alter their lifestyle. Yet defeat was hardly the worst of things to come, and assuredly as it arrived so too did the pirate lord and his men, changing the very culture of Kirigakure with their arrival.
Streets once safe were now filled with ruffians, worried for their son's safety Kaito's parents enrolled him in the Shinobi Academy - against Kaito's desire and will. Unlike most children Kaito had little interest in the life of a ninja, but like most young children his energy was easily harnessed by the teachers and his natural talents and interests fostered in how they could be used as a Shinobi. Soon his passion for sports and throwing allowed him to excel at Shurikenjutsu, his natural vision only amplifying his skill above his peers. By the time of his graduation to Genin at 14 years old Kaito has forgotten all about any other interests, now truly enamored with the lifestyle of the shinobi and a desire to grow his skills and become a true master of the throwing arts.
Personality Kaito is much like his parents - straight forward, earnest and passionate about his trade. He lacks the typical mischievous side of most his age, and could be called a 'teacher's pet' or some other derogatory remark for his rigid nature. Charitably he could be said to be more mature and level headed then most young teenagers. A grindingly hard worker by nature Kaito will work on his faults tirelessly, and polish his positives to a shine. As a rigid, plain youth Kaito struggles to make interpersonal connections with people his own age. Unusually competitive Kaito hates losing, and it is in those moments his age shows - rarely able to contain his frustrations at the loss, and immediately putting his nose to the grind stone to improve whatever fault he believed caused his defeat.
Proficiencies
Visual Enhancement
Kaito was born with incredible vision, both dynamic and static. He is able to see with far greater clarity at distance then most, react to and track fast moving objects with great accuracy and determine visual anomalies with far greater regularity. This natural talent of birth has manifested itself in his preferred skillset of thrown weaponry and hit and run tactics.
Shurikenjutsu [Apprentice]
Perhaps as a result of his vision Kaito has always been fond of throwing, from balls to weapons - when his training at the academy began he immediately excelled at the use of all types of thrown implements; from smoke bombs to shuriken and back again. While most use thrown weapons as distractions or escape tools, Kaito uses them as his primary form of combat, building his entire fighting style around the maintaining of distance and the pin point precision of his throws. While his skill is remarkable for someone of his age, he still relies mostly on his natural talent and is only just truly beginning to achieve true skill.
Taijutsu [Rookie]
Kaito's style of hand to hand could best be described as 'avoid' or 'escape'; rarely if ever will he lash out offensively in melee - focusing only on the opportunity to return to distance and ply his trade. His incredible dynamic vision allow him to avoid most 'straight forward' blows, but because he is so perceptive he can be more easily baited by feints and shifts, drawing out defensive maneuvers which could potentially get him into trouble.
Stealth [Rookie]
While Kaito understands the core tenants of stealth, and even sees it as a necessary building block for his future success he has yet to go beyond that which was taught at the Academy.
