Kenzou Nara grew up within the confounds of an isolated piece of the Hidden Rain Village and boasted about his place in the grand prison known as Ironside. A place where both low, and high-rank criminals were brought once they had been captured. Due to his familial ties to the current warden running things it was made certain that he would inherit the position sooner, or later if everything went as planned. Few other children were in the facility and those that were had no interest in following in the same footsteps of their parents. Leaving Kenzou to be nearly alone in his pursuits. Keeping the current rank in file officers company as he observed their day-to-day activities in hopes of perfecting the routine somehow. As a part of their training, many of the officers were well-versed in intolerance or simply enduring the charms, and charisma of criminals while watching over their cells. Having strived to be just like them also meant that Kenzou was bound to meet, and speak with various criminals throughout his young life. Though on the day of one of his practical exams he choked and nearly freed a criminal as a result.
Normally that would have been the end of his career attempts as such an event could hardly go undocumented, or unnoticed by others. Though the members of the Nara clan that acted as the upper echelons of the prison swept it under the rug. Better to have him fail, and try again than to become a complete failure after all. If not for this reasoning then perhaps they could have lived. Perhaps Ironside Prison would've still been open to this day, and maybe Kenzou himself would have become a better person as a result. Though if you stay hung up on the "What Ifs" you'll never truly find your way out of the pit formed by your regret. Something a youthful Kenzou had plenty of time to learn. However, if he'd known in advance then he probably wouldn't have revisited the cells of the criminals alone in the dead of night. Challenging himself. Stroking his ego. Led astray by his own pride he wished to prove that he wasn't a failure, and despite all the rumors circulating within the prison, he called his home that he could become the warden someday. Sadly they were true, he was a weak-willed boy at the time, and as if events had just mirrored himself he fell for the charms of a criminal yet again. This time though he freed not just one criminal, but them all.
Like a swarm of cockroaches, the scum of the village drowned the prison in the blood of both their fellow prisoners, but also numerous officers as well. Most if not all of his clan were wiped out in defense of the prison, and quite a few of the criminals were put down. However several of them escaped, and one the "Butcher Of The Black Sand" killed his parents herself. She was the criminal that broke his will, she drove him to prove himself, and in the end, it was she that ended everything he wished he could become. Because of this Kenzou looked on in utter silence as she beheaded the people that he'd call Mom&Dad before she winked, and offered him her hand. Of course, he refused to accept such a thing allowing the woman to escape as a result. Given the prison was indeed a minor structure in the grand scheme of things the village didn't send aid at the end of it all. This largely left Kenzou with a poor impression of them, and while he never joined the village himself he did stay within the borders of Amegakure for sake of training himself.
From that day forward Ken spent all his time in the now-abandoned prison honing his skill with a number of tools but focusing on the Shadow Imitation Technique of the Nara Clan. Roaming through each cell, and forcing the prisoners that remained into death matches for the sake of training. By age 34 all of the prisoners were left beyond repair, and he himself set out to fill the cells once more. Of course, he also planned to find, and string noose around the Butcher herself if time allowed. Yet despite all his bravado, he didn't actually set out anywhere. Instead, he settled in a small town called Oka. It was a place he'd always wanted to visit as a child but never got the chance. Taking this opportunity he stayed there for some time catching criminals, executing those he saw fit, and finally leaving when he'd overstayed his welcome at the local bar. In this way, he traveled to numerous places performing similar deeds, and sometimes he even did something worthwhile. Now if only he could screw his head on tight enough to actually accomplish his goal for once, and he'd be good to go.
When describing Kenzou many folk would tell you that he is a clown. A Jester calculating the odds and then striking when the advantage is his own. That can be seen both in battle, but also in politics. While he cares little for others he has no problem with using them to obtain his own goals. Because of this, he has been described as a self-absorbed person, but that is far from the truth. For the sake of his family, he has dedicated his life to stopping criminals and bringing peace to the world. Yet he will actively perform crimes of all sorts. Disillusioned with the fact that all his own actions are for the sake of peace, but criminals other than himself are guilty. This is why the decaying cells of Ironside Prison are filled with the corpses of both the innocent and guilty in equal measure. Many citizens of Oka[Small Town Near The Prison] would rather he died, but others benefit from the lack of crime overall. So you could say that he is quite pleased with himself because of this. When it comes to common pleasures he enjoys drinking as it allows him to skip away from reality, but can't often enjoy it. For whenever he drinks he is haunted by an illusion of a woman calling herself his wife. A phantom that forces him into the shoes of a married man, and yet he remains head over heels for this being, never allowing his eyes to wander too often from her visage. Many have simply assumed him insane, and they are probably correct. To them, he looks to be little more than a middle-aged man whispering and cackling alongside someone who was never there, to begin with.
Shadow Imitation Technique[Journeyman]
Due to his overwhelming determination, and focus on the field of the Hijutsu Ken has begun to soar into new territory when it comes to manipulating his shadow under the guise of it being similar to water. Choosing to manifest his shadow not through threads, or the usual tendrils as they were replaced by a near static ocean. This shadow would bleed itself out into the world around him in order to cover an area 2 times smaller than your average baseball field that serves as the conduit for what could only be viewed as Koi Fish rising from the surface on occasion. These beings are used to distract by bumping into foes, or even leaping out, and swallowing projectiles on occasion. Of course, by applying more chakra he can forge Koi Fish of a larger scale than he primarily uses to swallow foes whole and suffocate them within the Koi itself. Despite his honing the technique as he has it has yet to actually reach its peak, and given his slow learning curve, there is a possibility that it never will. Something that Kenzou looks forward to proving wrong in due time.
