in another life gauma would have not been a shinobi but instead a pirate sailing the seas and plundering all that he could in the name of fame and treasure. that would be of course as stated him in another life, here in this life things were a bit different. at heart he would always be a child of the sea, conceived and birthed on it, so he has a sort of connection to it, as if its calling him. even so its probably some kind of red string of fate that led him to the docks of kirigakure with his mother who decided that the boy's energy was better spent learning the ways of the shinboi. probably because she was one but that's a love story of the ages for another time.
as a young lad gauma was one who always found himself in school yard fights with other kids. a habit that he still hasn't quite grown out of as he would find the biggest kid around the yard and try to punch their lights out and leave them on the ground with a black eye, bloody nose, or both. there was something about fighting that felt right with the lad. even if he himself found himself laid out on the floor with his own injuries he would soon laugh it off and get back up again ready for more or even congratulate his opponent if he thought they were pretty good himself. it was like a second language to him, almost first if you can believe he was such a troublemaker on his father's ship back when he was running around in diapers.
when he got older his mother slowly taught him an important lesson; that his fists were not just for fighting but for expressing himself. oh sure he argued back that fighting was expressing himself but after a left hook to the jaw his mother told him that wasn't quite what she meant. that his hands were made for more than just punching people but for helping and even caring for them.
to rewind a little bit, gauma might have inherited his father's storm-like vigor he also inherited his mother's softness. as a child he did get into lots of fights that much is true but if you were to talk to some of his old classmates you would learn that many of them were done in the name of helping out the little guy. putting himself between a bully and his victim and taking the punches meant for them and giving them back tenfold.
with this lesson in hand gauma started to build himself up even further. getting stronger to use his hands to beat the strongest of foes and protect the weakest of victims. sure his love of fighting was one that was ever present as he couldn't turn down any challenge that presented itself or shy away from an opportunity to hone his skills even further but it wasn't like he was doing it for himself now. now he knew he could use his own body to make sure that the people around him stay safe one way or another so it made sense that he would toughen himself up.
he was going to turn himself into a storm that protected the waters of kirigakure and all who swim in its bounty.
Taijutsu [apprentice]
-mama said knock you out
gauma has been a brawler all of his life so he knows how to not only take a punch but dish it out as well. while many focus on a single style to hone their taijutsu gauma had such a love of fighting that one style wasn't quite working out for him so over the years he's absorbed many different techniques that he's seen or had used on him by others to try and incorporate them into his own style. the results are kind of a mixed bag that could stand to be more refined but at the very least he can say that he's pretty well versed in the art of what some call "wrestling" even if it does incorporate a lot of showmanship with some of the moves instead of actual grappling.
how would one call it? well he likes to call it "pro wrestling" if he had to give it a name.
Tekkenjutsu [Rookie]
-heavy handed
while many shinobi opt for the basic of ninja tools and some even lean towards learning the ways of the blade gauma is very adamant about mastering the two weapons he was born, his fists. so when it came to choosing a weapon he had chosen a rather simple yet probably unorthodox one, tekko (or knuckle dusters). with these in his hands he's able to increase the damage done by his very own fists by adding the impact of iron to his punches to devastate people on the receiving end of them. it might hurt himself in the long run as he sacrifices reach and effectiveness for more pure damage but who's going to complain when they're busy crying about broken bones?
Stealth [Rookie]
-quiet as a mouse
gauma himself tends to be a bit too loud when it comes to himself personally, hailing down friends when he sees them, cursing like a sailor to his foes, and kind of making a loud ruckus even when he's out and about its hard to imagine someone like him could ever be stealthy like a ninja should. they would be right in some ways. he at least knows to shut up initially when out on a job to keep his presence low and its not like he doesn't know how to be light on his feet at least as its sort of how he creeps up on people without even meaning too and usually gives a few a decent jump scare.
Storm Release [Dormant]
-raging waves and cracking thunder
truly gauma must be a child of the sea as within him lays the genetics to be able to harness the power of storms that ravage ships along the coast. however its unknown to him that he even possess this power with the only inkling one could give him is that he has a sort of sixth sense to know when a storm is approaching him but even that could be chalked up to childhood experience living at sea.
