The Hyuga Clan has changed since the fall of their homeland. For many years the clan was made up of two branches, a main house and a side branch. When the clan was scattered in the aftermath of the invasion, it was impossible for the surviving members of the main branch to keep tabs on the bloodline or rule it. This didn't stop the cursed mark placed on the side branch members from being problematic, as Hyuga joined different villages the secret hand seal to activate their curse marks was spoiled. For a time Hyuga with cursed marks were seen as more a liability than an asset in the shinobi world, so they began receiving assignments to defensive positions and in training others. Now that several generations have passed and cursed marks no longer exist, the scattered Hyuga clan members are regarded as respectable allies.
The power of the byakugan has since spread outside of the confines of the clan because of mingling outside of it, but the gentle fist hijutsu still remains a closely guarded secret for those who know it.
Kekkei Genkai
Hyuga Heritage Those that possess this heritage have the potential to awaken the byakugan. It usually awakens at a very young age, but it is not unheard of for it to go dormant for some time.
Byakugan Requirements: Hyuga Heritage The byakugan is an unranked kekkei genkai that grants the user the ability to see at nearly three hundred and sixty degrees with their vision while it is active. Furthermore, the byakugan can see through objects and detect chakra networks, even able to pick out an individuals chakra points. A byakugan does take a small amount of charka to keep active and causes the veins around the eyes to become engourged.
Hijutsu
Gentle Fist The gentle fist is a taijutsu style that utilizes the powerful vision granted by the byakugan to deliver careful bursts of chakra into an opponents chakra points. With a successful strike they can disrupt a persons chakra points with a simple touch. More advanced users learn to better control their raw chakra to create powerful barriers to defend themselves or to shape it to extend the range of their strikes. This hijutsu replaces taijutsu proficiency.
It can techically be learned without byakugan, but it simply follows the style of the byakugan with strikes and is incapable of disrupting chakra points.
