Where there are bugs, there are Aburame. From a young age members of this clan receive body modifications and are bonded with insects. As they grow to maturity they are able to use these swarms in combat. The Aburame has many branches, and some do not even refer to themselves as Aburame. The most popular offshoot is the Kamizuru, who favor using bees as their hive insects.
Insects
Aburame employ a hive of insects. The most popular hive are Kikaichu, parasitic insects that sustain themselves on chakra. Kikaichu are able to drain the chakra of the users opponents and can even be used for tracking by planting females on an opponent and having male beetles track the pheromone. Kikaichu do use some of the users chakra to sustain themselves, so they tend to have a bit less chakra for other types of jutsu. Different Aburame use totally different insect hives with their own abilities and drawbacks.
Experienced Aburame will also often carry specimens of insects that they are not keeping in a hive in order to increase their versatility.
