「 proficiencies 」
taijutsu ❁ apprentice
a lady never gets her hands dirty.
[break]― unless there's no other choice.
[break]yukio prefers to let her words do the talking for her, but she isn't afraid to use her fists if it's required. though if she has the choice, she'd rather try and not get involved in close combat without her sword unless her life was in danger. despite several years of training and fending for herself, she still dislikes using taijutsu. however being raised in a strict household meant she had to partake in lessons and learn the basics of taijutsu even with her reluctance.
kenjutsu ❁ apprentice
a sword is the extension of yourself.
[break]― balance hangs on the fingers of peace.
[break]in comparison to her distaste for taijutsu, yukio's love of kenjutsu is unrivaled to nearly anything else. swords are the traditional weapon of choice from the shimizu clan, preferred for their elegance and grace while fighting. yukio's own sword is fashioned rather plainly, preferring to use a standard katana to be as inconspicuous as possible for now. she doesn't need a glamorous and aesthetically pleasing sword to get the job done. she'd rather her abilities speak for themselves instead of being known for having a customized sword. currently, she's still fine tuning her skills and starting to play around with incorporating other forms of jutsu into her moveset with her sword. she's looking to find a way to include her passion for poisons and toxins into her kenjutsu to make her attacks more lethal. though her family's kenjutsu master would say she needs to focus more on her forms instead of trying new techniques just yet.
stealth ❁ apprentice
you should be seen, but not heard.
[break]― you were quiet, but you were not blind.
[break]quietness was beaten into yukio before she was even old enough to walk - her and her siblings should always be seen, but never heard. they weren't to make a disgrace of the family. as such, those 'lessons' translated easily to the stealth training of her genin days, making it easy for her to walk lightly, almost as if silent and she knows how to not leave a trace. however, that's of the past (unless it's required). now that she's free from her restrictive family, she's louder, more boisterous, makes stealth a little bit harder when she's not focused on it. she's often referred to as a tiger-mouse (or something similar) amongst her friends due to her ability to be fierce and stubborn one moment and soft and reserved the next. she's almost a chameleon in that she knows how to adapt her personality to those around her and she uses this to her advantage when she's required to be on the stealthy side of things.
medical ninjutsu ❁ apprentice
do no harm.
[break]― take no shit.
[break]taking after her mother's side, yukio has had a quick efficiency with medical ninjutsu. the yoshida's are known for being knowledgable about botany, physiology and their ability to easily make medications, so it's unsurprising that yukio was able to pick up on the study of medical ninjutsu from a young age. one of the first things she was able to do as she was learning was to sterilize wounds of her teammates whenever they gained a scratch or cut. her current main focus has been on exploring poisons and how they affect the body and how to prevent (or cause) them in other people. she doesn't have any plans at the moment to pursue surgery, but she wants to be able to easily care for her teammates and friends. her main goal with furthering her medical ninjutsu training is to be someone they can rely on when they need help. she's also curious in exploring how to use chakra enhanced abilities (strength, speed, etc), but her main focus is on healing and toxins currently. her yoshida heritage has made it easy for her to make pills, tablets, powders and a variety of liquid (usually teas) medicines for different ailments.
genjutsu - olfactory ❁ apprentice
everything is impossible.
[break]― until it is done.
[break]similar with her proficiency with medical ninjutsu, yukio has been interested in tying genjutsu in with her medical studies. through the use of powders and perfumes, yukio is able to cast different genjutsus on people that encounter them. mostly the powders will be used in scented 'medicine' that she produces, though it's not exactly medicine... at the current moment, her focus is on creating different types of hallucinogenic drugs that will dull the users' senses and allows them to see different illusions based off the amount of chakra that was infused in the powders. at the moment she can only produce low level hallucinogens that only last for a few minutes with people having to take several at once for a longer lasting effect. as far as her kneading chakra into perfumes, that's mostly for her personal use to help with her stealth abilities - though it's very noticeable that it's her due to the distinct floral scent that she chooses, but it makes pinpointing her exact location harder.
